Hare Krsna religion; Eat tasty vegetarian food, first offered by your own hands to Godhead. Read wonderful books from Krsna. Play instruments, sing, dance, chant spiritual Names, have fun and grow your love, then live eternally in Goloka in due course.
Dont be sinful. Dont kill or abuse others, dont gamble, live healthily without addictions, be chaste to your married spouse. Karma hurts.
Chant Hare Krsna. and become advanced in consciousness, perform pure devotional service to all others, via your service to Sri Krsna. Accept the mercy of Nitai and Gauranga. Love enriches and nourishes.
Our spiritual master, HDG A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada is a perfect self-realized person, like Jesus, and other pure devotees.
So, continue nicely with your deity worship there and read my books very carefully, and without fail chant 16 rounds on your beads daily.
I hope this meets you in good health.
Your ever well-wisher, A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami
According to the Vaiṣṇava regulative principles, one must be initiated as a brāhmaṇa. The Hari-bhakti-vilāsa (2.6) quotes the following injunction from the Viṣṇu-yāmala:
adīkṣitasya vāmorukṛtaṁ sarvaṁ nirarthakam paśu-yonim avāpnotidīkṣā-virahito janaḥ
“‘Unless one is initiated by a bona fide spiritual master, all his devotional activities are useless. A person who is not properly initiated can descend again into the animal species.’”
Hari-bhakti-vilāsa (2.10) further quotes: ato guruṁ praṇamyaivaṁsarva-svaṁ vinivedya ca gṛhṇīyād vaiṣṇavaṁ mantraṁdīkṣā-pūrvaṁ vidhānataḥ
“‘It is the duty of every human being to surrender to a bona fide spiritual master. Giving him everything — body, mind and intelligence — one must take Vaiṣṇava initiation from him.’”
"One should not proudly think that one can understand the transcendental loving service of the Lord simply by reading books... One must accept a Vaisnava guru (adau gurv-asrayam), and then by questions and answers one should gradually learn what pure devotional service to Krsna is. That is called the parampara system."
(Cc. Antya-lila 7.53, purp.) — AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada
BY HIS DIVINE GRACE A. C. BHAKTIVEDANTA SWAMI PRABHUPADA;
My advice to you under the circumstances is that at least for one hour you must all go to have sankirtana outside on the streets or in the park. That is your life and soul, first business. The next business is completing the chanting of 16 rounds every day. The next business is your editing. And if you find extra time then you can attend the temple ceremonies. Otherwise you can stop these activities. But outdoor kirtana, your editing work, and chanting of 16 rounds must be done. Outdoor kirtana must be done, even at the cost of suspending all editorial work. That is your first and foremost business. Temple worship is not so important. If need be, the whole temple can be locked. But the outdoor kirtana cannot be stopped. (Letter to Rayarama, 17 May 1969)
If need be, the whole temple can be locked. But the outdoor kirtana cannot be stopped.
Bhattacarya: ‘Swamiji, I want to tell you something. In Vrindavan temple, they are having your deity on the altar. And all kinds of people are coming and praying to it, and offering flowers to it, and you are still living. According to Pancaratra, when the Acarya is living, if he puts his deity on the altar, then all the sufferings people are having come to his body through the deity. So you please tell your disciples to worship your deity only after you leave your body.’
He was speaking as if he was giving some information to Prabhupada, which Prabhupada did not note.
Prabhupada: ‘I know. I came here to take their suffering.’
Bhattacarya was shocked. He was not giving any new information. This was well known to Prabhupada; and he was determined to suffer for others.
Prabhupada: ‘Do you have anything else to say?’
Bhattacarya: ‘Swamiji, if that is your wish, what can I say? I am only a priest.’
Prabhupada: ‘Even when I leave, I will keep continuing taking their suffering, and make them free so they can keep chanting Hare Krishna
So for 10,000 years, Prabhupada’s deity is going to be sitting in temples around the world, and taking all our sufferings, and making us free so we can chant Hare Krishna. He is not fiberglass; he is really there, accepting our prayers, obeisances, and suffering.
Where else in the recent history can we come across a personality who had such compassion for the most fallen souls. And via his books Srila Prabhupada continues in his effort to guide every one of us to the top region of the spiritual world….Goloka Vrindavan. He is the `Jagat Guru’ in this age of Kali for next 10,000 years.
All glories to Sri Guru and Gauranga. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
How can one rid oneself of false ego, by attempting to become a liberated or advanced devotee? Is that also not a degree of selfishness, a desire to be in a better position? It is better than merely material desire, but, has the self-serving truly stopped?
I posit that only by serving others selfelssly can the false ego of self-service stop. Passionate engagement in service to the Eternal Beings, in fact, is the only recourse, for those seeking eternal spiritual life, truly free of false ego. Such mindful dedication to not-serving-the-false-ego opens up a positive alternative realm of serving-Godhead-and-Their-devotees in selfless eternal constitutional bliss.
Therefore, by bhakti, love, one can break the finals chains of material false identity.
Śrīla Prabhupāda Says - [Regarding how reading and hearing are the same thing]
So these things are sometimes inconceivable. But it is not inconceivable. It is possible to... Our real point is that Śukadeva Gosvāmī was not a grammarian, but he learned everything from his father by hearing.
Therefore it is called śrūyamāṇāyām. If you hear from the right person, properly, then you become perfect. There is no need of literary education. Therefore Vedas are called śruti. Śruti means... Formerly the students, they were learning everything. Their memory was so nice and sharp that simply by hearing from guru's mouth they would learn.
In the Kali-yuga, because the memory is not so str... [break] ... Vyāsadeva recorded this in writing, that "The rascals will come henceforward. They will have not very sharp brain, memory, so let me keep this literature in writing so that in future they may take advantage of it. Or somebody will read and they will hear. In this way their life will be successful."
[SB: Lecture 1.7.8 - 7 Sept 1976]
If one simply comes to that platform of spontaneous love for the spiritual master, then very quickly he will get love of God, or Krishna, and his all hankerings and lamentations of life will be finished. That is the process. Just like when two friends meet and, if the friend is also with his dog, the gentleman pats his dog first, is it not? So the friend becomes automatically pleased, his dog being patted. I have seen it in your country sometimes when I used to walk in the Regents Park early mornings. So it is like that, the spiritual master is the pet dog of Krishna, and if he is pleased so Krishna is also pleased. That is the process.
