Paramatma

Paramatma is the Divine in all of us. He is described in various ways, but lives in the heart. I relate best to Paramatma in animals. i can easily see Him in them. It is hard, sometimes,(well, a LOT of times, actually) to see Paramatma in my fellow humans.  We deny the divinity in ourselves and others. it is especially hard to see the divine in fellow people we particularly dislike. A small realization

while on my way to work, I was thinking, as I often do, and suddenly i realized WHERE the grief we feel comes from when a loved one dies: it is because that aspect of Krishna the person represented is no longer there. I haven't described it very well, but the people and pets we love come to represent(or BE) God… Continue

Vaikuntha Ekadashi - Most celebrated of festivals in temples of South India

Ekadashi, the 11th day of the waxing or waning moon is considered as one of the important days by all devotees of Krishna. Lord Krishna is very pleased with one who fasts on this day. In general, the devotees fast completely on this day and many do not drink even a drop of water. This austerity is taken up by…

Pinch of Ashes

Prabhupada, London, August 20, 1973: [...] My Guru Maharaja used to say that if we pray to God for all these nonsense things, it is just like a man goes to a king and the king says, “Whatever you want you can ask from me,” and if the man says, “Kindly give me a pinch of ashes.” It is like that. If we ask from God for some material benefit, it means that I am asking from a king a pinch of ashes.…

422. How does a genuine disciple think? (p.338)

For the genuine devotee of a spiritual master, the genuine disciple, the spiritual master is his entire life, his ideal. His vow is to serve the spiritual master, and though he adores both Krishna and the spiritual master equally, he gives special…
