Miscreants Arrested after Attacking Sadhudasa

Sep 11, 2013 — CANADA (SUN) — As reported on September 7th, Sadhudasa Anudasa (Ricardo Antonio) was taken to a Kolkata based private hospital from Saktinagar district hospital on Friday night, after a viscous attack left him suffering severe cuts. The armed miscreants descended upon him at his rented apartment in Gournagar colony, near the ISKCON campus at Sridham Mayapur. The miscreants hacked him at random creating ten deep injuries over a contention with another local Iskcon devotee identified as Manik Das over a land dealing and pending house rent. Police have arrested Manik and three hired miscreant who were engaged to launch the attack."
As reported by News From Nadia, Manik Das@Mahabandhu Das of Gournagar colony in Mayapur, who is an ISKCON devotee, hired four criminals from Bangaon in North 24 Parganas to kill Sadhudasda prabhu, because he allegedly refused to return Rs 20-lakh despite owing the amount to him. This was stated by Manik himself to the police during interrogation.
"On last night four miscreants including Manik, who known to be a pious person being a Iskcon devotee, entered the rented apartment of Argentine National Ricardo Antonio and hacked him at random in a bid to kill him. Ricard is now fighting for life at a private hospital in Kolkata. However, Manik was arrested by the police and three miscreants were rescued by police while being brutally beaten up by public after they were nabbed while absconding.
According to police, Manik, originally a resident of Kalyani Barohat colony developed a relation with Ricard eight years ago when he first came to Mayapur. Sources said, Ricardo had huge money which Manik wanted to utilise in developing building purchasing land. Ricardo being a foreign National, also allowed Manik to use his fund. However, Manik claimed that it was Ricardo who exploited him. "I provided him shelter initially and then given an apartment on third floor on the assurance of paying me the rent and price. However, he never paid any amount to me", he said further. The anger, however, led him to attack the Argentine National.
On last week Manik went to Bangaon and hired the criminals through a friend and hired four miscreants to eliminate Ricardo.
Police identified the three miscreants as Susanta Roy, Balaram Adhikary and Bibhash Biswas and Goutam Mandal. Goutam was the driver of the car. Police meanwhile admitted the three others to the hospital.
An investigating officer of Nabadweep police station said, "We have begun an investigation into the matter. So far we came recorded the statement of Manik, However, it is not clear how far his statements are true. We would therefore, try to record the statement of the Argentine for cross examination and then try to find out the exact reason".
Meanwhile, according to sources condition of the Argentine is still stated to be critical. "He has sustained multiple injuries which are quite fatal in nature. He has lost huge blood and still in danger", a source at the private hospital where he was admitted said on Saturday.
Iskcon Public Relations Officer Ramesh Das said: "The incident is unfortunate. Even though the accused and the victim are not at all directly associated with us, we have became seriously concerned about the incident. We have appealed the administration to ensure proper security and quick investigation into the matter so that the culprits could be find out and punished"."
