Its true but its even worse than that.
The union of canaanite (really, akkadian) paganism and the original israelite faith took place sometime starting the assyrian captivity (when samaritans were corrupted), and finalizing in the babylonian captivity when the infusion of populations made them all dark haired. This is ~700 and ~500 BC respectively. By ~300 BC the language of Israelites was not spoken, it was just occasionally written by a few people who knew how, called scribes. The sadducees and pharisees used their scribes to corrupt the testament for their purposes. This led to a loss of the First Temple faith.
The Septuagint in ~300 BC was an attempt by people living in Alexandria to record the First Temple faith, Christians believe the Septuagint is as close as we can get and is sufficient for salvation. This version is approved by the last existing council in Jerusalem, as such, subsequent 'writs' that disagree with it (eg Dead Sea scrolls circa 100AD) are not considered correct.
Modern Jews are an even more hilarious corruption. The few anti-Christians who opposed Christ after Titus rekt them, went to Babylon and joined sort of universities (Sura, Pumbedita) there, whose job was to corrupt Christianity. They developed and codified something which didn't exist before, which is Rabbinic Judaism (Judaism separate from authority, a kind of protestant-form, which rejected the Messiah) and this form of Judaism was not just different from first or even second (Pharisee/Sadducee) temple, it was an utter inversion meant to be the opposite.
They copied the Septuagint and modified it, by removing certain chapters, and editing the presaging of the Christ, to rule Jesus out. The product of this was called the "Mishnah Torah", and they claimed they wrote it earlier than they did so Jesus Christ would be ruled out by the "primacy" of this text. But in reality Rabbi Judah "the prince" and his Tannaim (legal scholars) compiled the Mishnah Torah in 200 AD, this was right after the Bar Kokhba revolt, and over a century after God guided Titus to destroy of the temple. Judah the prince was simply a collaborator with Rome, and wrote this Mishnah Torah to 1) prevent conversion to Christianity, and 2) create a law for a stateless people which Romans literally paid for him to do. This is why you see the concept of "intention" (Kavanah) creep into the Torah, this is actually a Roman legal practice. There are also mentions of "prayers for the state" literally urging them to pray for the Roman state. Many of these rules dont make sense for Israelites from before 700BC, because they had their own state, they would not need to pray for the welfare of a occupying state, this is part of the reason why the Mishnah Torah is such a fraud. While you won't find a law in the Mishnah praising Jupiter, you can feel the overwhelming presence of the Roman Empire on every page.
Once the universities (Yeshivas) in Babylon had their "Mishnah Torah", they began their work on compiling the Gemara, by professional liars known as Amoraim. Their job is to take the Torah - written partly to be a law for a stateless people, and only loosely related to the actual Old Testment - dissect it into passages, and then apply the most ridiculous legalisms to produce the Gemara. Which is kind of an argument against the Torah.

Christian interpretation - The law of God should be secure in your deeds and thoughts
Pharisee corruption (niqqud and trope added) - וְקְשַׁרְתָּם לְאוֹת עַל-יָדֶךָ; וְהָיוּ לְטֹטָפֹת בֵּין עֵינֶיךָ - You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be for frontlets (mystery word) between your eyes
Gemara interpretation - You need to put a box on your head and wrap your arm with stuff, here is the rules on what the box can be made of, only the leather of a kosher animal will suffice (rabbi #6425 will sell you these), and the wrap has to be placed on the weaker arm and be of this material (only rabbi #016 has a monopoly on these materials, the fortunate fellow)... Good news: The Mishnah project of the Tannaim "Prince", Gemara project of the Amorim eventually failed when they got absorbed by Islam. Now we come to the second period of satanism.
Following the Amorim, came the Geonim. They did not even pretend to have a book to read from, they had no written word. They simply made rulings based on their "memory" of the scripture. They would be paid handsomely by a jew family to teach a son, by rote repetition, the law. The son would fail to do this of course, but he would receive a certificate that he did, and would then be able to issue orders in the community. They also commanded a system called "responsa" which were essentially letters, a distant community would ask "can bob kill jan because she took his horse, without knowing it was a jews horse, thinking it was only a goys horse" and the Geonim would write a letter of how they believe the rule should be based on who paid them more. This is entirely stream of thought, complete opinion, they had no written text from about 600-1000 AD.

70ad to 200ad - Tannaim are the spiritual successors to Pharisees, the one they call the prince (exilarch), produces the Torah, which is a cut down Greek Old Testament, and modified further to align with Pharisee teachings.
200ad to 500ad - Amoraim are the ones who build a rabbinic judaism with the Gemara, they build arguments against the Torah, and tracked these arguments as essentially loopholes in the law which wealthy people paid them to find.

1600ad to present day - The Rothschild exilarch Acharonim come to power, these are present day Jews. They are in the process of writing a THIRD layer. Eg the lie that is Torah was one layer, its critique is the 2nd layer, and the modern Acharonic jew, is writing the THIRD layer which is a critique of the critique. This is called "Halakha" or the application, but the modern jew doesnt really give a fuck about the talmud or the torah, theyre writing their own layer overtop which says they can do what they want.
None of these groups spoke the Hebrew language, from pharisee to acharonim. The modern invention of "hebrew" spoken in the modern state of israel, is a made up language, like loglan or esperanto. It was made up by an Acharonim Khazar in Russia in around 1800ad.

The "rabbinic judaism's" system's PREFERENCE of oral interpretation and localized rabbinic authority created a "control-spiral" that alienated followers leading to a constant attrition of by those who were shat on by the rabbinic class. This drive for internal control and ability to do what the rabbis wanted was kind of a self-perpetuating cult, it forced the community into extreme insularity at opposition to every country they were in, which led to pogroms. This is why their community is so small, they are genetically bottlenecking through control spiralling by rabbis.
The modern Jew has no connection to a Baghdad Jew from 200AD, other than the rabbinic willingness to utterly pervert the word of God to abuse his own fellow man. They are the ultimate satanist, their claim to a "vast history" is only part of the lie that lets them control the people under their sway, similar to a cult leader who says he knows some deeper truth or that he's Osiris resurrected or something.
