ISKCON BANGALORE

By ISKCON Bangalore
23 March 2012, Bangalore, India — This article is a rejoinder to the article published in Sun titled “Peace Proposal” http://www.harekrsna.com/sun/editorials/03-12/editorials8376.htm. This article stated:

“In February 2009, the Sampradaya Sun published a previous Peace Proposal. This one, authored by Bangalore’s self-appointed GBC members, was directed to Bhakti Caru Swami, Yasomatinandan das and Shankadhari das. It was accompanied by a more detailed backgrounder by Madhu Pandit das.”

We wish to bring to the notice of the readers that the GBC members of ISKCON Bangalore are not self-appointed. The GBC members of ISKCON Bangalore group of temples were elected in 2008 by a rigorous process based on the Direction of Management document of Srila Prabhupada.

The GBC members of ISKCON Bangalore Group of temples have been elected in two separate elections conducted in 2008 and 2011.

In 2008 the elections were conducted in two stages. In the first stage, the full-time missionaries and senior congregation devotees from various temples of ISKCON Bangalore group (about 260 devotees), elected a twenty one member body, consisting of older devotees who were rendering responsible services equivalent of a Temple President in the various temples of ISKCON-Bangalore group.  Later this twenty one member body elected a ten member GBC which was to oversee all the temples of ISKCON Bangalore Group for the next three year term. This election had external observers to ensure a fair and free election is conducted. A report about this was carried in Sun http://www.harekrsna.com/sun/editorials/11-08/editorials3605.htm.

In October of 2011, after the three year period, a new governing council was elected for next three year term by the Temple Presidents Body. These elections were conducted in ISKCON farm located near Mysore and supervised by a retired Government bureaucrat. An article about the same was published in Sun http://www.harekrsna.com/sun/news/10-11/news4032.htm.

THE PROBLEM IS THAT MADHU PANDIT IS SELF APPOINTED AND EVEN IF THE BANGALORE GBC CAN BE REPLACED HE (MADHU PANDIT) IS ABOVE THAT, THE VOTING SYSTEM DOES NOT APPLY TO HIM, HE CANNOT BE VOTED OUT…HE IS MINI PRABHUPADA…..AND THAT IS WRONG.

    To Giridhari Das:
What is the basis of your statement? Do not comment just to support the current unauthorised GBC.

  3. Giridhari das says:

They are both the same in regards that they are uncountable to anyone , hence they are wrong

pamho agtACBSP, i don’t think it is so difficult to understand that everyone needs to work on behalf of SRILA PRABHUPADA as ritvik because nobody is so advanced yet.
Everyone has to get purified by following the final order of our beloved acharya.

Therefore the GBC of Iskcon Bangalore is the real GBC because they are following SRILA PRABHUPADA’s instructions as life&soul.

Other GBCs are self appointed and do not follow the last statement of SRILA PRABHUPADA in iskcon as HG Madhu Pandit is pointing out to all fiskcon temples.

The way how things should be therefore all these people who blame Iskcon Bangalore are unauthorized GBC who don’t work on behalf of our beloved acharya as bonafide ritviks.

You must be empowered by superior authority; then you can deliver the right things. Pseudo vaishnavas will dry out with the advancement of kali yuga -- they can’t hold their position because of being disconnected from the powerhouse of Krsna’s parampara. Thus disobeying the final order of SRILA PRABHUPADA.

I agree with you in regards to ritvik system and i appreciate the voting of the GBC`s in Bangalore, however my point is the Madhu pandit puts him self above the system, just like FISKCON`s gurus.

He is not included in the ‘voting’ system like his GBC, he is above all and unaccountable to anyone, just like ‘FISKCONITES mystical poobah`s’. Hence he is not much better.

If Madhu Pandit want to be seen as true SP follower he has to change his ‘good as god’ status and be willing to let devotees vote on his stay in leading positions as well , otherwise it is just a joke…and different kind of mockery..

I think you have not correctly understood the voting system that elected the GBC of ISkcon Bangalore. Madhupandit dasa is just one of the members of the Temple presidents body which has 22 other devotees who are all temple presidents of different temples across India. When voting happens to select 10 GBC members out of those 22 Temple presidents as per Direction of Management that Srila Prabhupada constituted in 1970, Madhupandit dasa is just one of them. He also has powers to cast just only one vote. Temple presidents body has the powers to vote out Madhupandit dasa. He has not even chaired the meetings so far. What more is required to be done than this to prove that he is not above GBC body ?

    pamho prabhus agtACBSP,

devotees of a temple congregation know each other. If they elect a temple president they naturally elect a devotee whom they trust, someone whom they can identify with, who demonstrated his ability.

Same with election of GBC. Temple presidents will only elect a GBC whom they consider as qualified. Another safety measure is three years term of office.

As soon someone turns out to be inefficient he/she will not have another term of office.

Iskcon Bangalore GBC is following SRILA PRABHUPADA, therefore they are successful making more maha rati great soldiers of SRI SRI GURU GAURANGA.

  • I think Abhaya Carana Seva Prabhu has cleared all difficulties in this regard. They follow the institution given by Srila Prabhupada, and nobody's authority goes above the institution. Nevertheless it is a fact that Madhu Pandit Dasa Prabhu has contributed greatly to Srila Prabhupada's service and proven himself capable of leading, so everybody trusts him to continue the same. Again, it will be fallatic to comment upon him without knowing him personally. Hearsay will help only as much as it has helped the rest of the world understand Gour Govinda Maharaja's position from these hard ritviks. Whatever he may appear to be in the public to defend Srila Prabhupada's ISKCON Bangalore against these bogus gurus, Madhu Pandit Dasa is a very humble and sincere devotee personally; I can vouch for this because I have met him, talked with him. Everybody there maybe a nice devotee, but if one person has the skills required to manage the affairs better, I don't see anything wrong in his being re-elected either. ISKCON Bangalore and group of Temples have no disrespects for any devotee, even the bogus guru fanatics, their only assertion is why give up the service to a self-realized soul and prematurely take up the position of guru and consequently fall down and bewilder all other devotees; if a guru is so desperately required, Srila Prabhupada can somehow communicate to a qualified person of the need, because he is omniscient. Guru means authorized by an acarya, a self-realized soul. The position of guru is not so light. Guru, the Sanskrit word, means heavy, one who is heavy with realization, knowledge (Prabhupada says this). Not that a group of 'big' devotees discuss and make someone guru. That is not alright, and that is the proposition of ISKCON Bangalore. My humble obeisances at the feet of all devotees.

    All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

  • For amusement; SPI total expenditures to date, approximately $1200. new devotees, eight. Period of time, three years. $150 per devotee/3 is  $50. per yr per devotee made.

Bangla luru et al temples, total expenditures to date, maybe 80. million dollars.  new devotees, 8000. Period of time, 30 years. 80,000.$ per devotee made, divided by 30 is $2,650. per yr. per devotee made.

Do the math. We are so much ahead of them in terms of both efficiency and results, there is no comparison.

    • Most of the money you mentioned in that $2650 goes towards books, Aksaya-patra, Temple management, Deity decorations, and many other indirect ways of preaching and spreading Srila Prabhupada's mission. No devotee personally uses the money for his sense gratification, they eat very little, work all day, sometimes all night also. This I have personally observed these past 2 years, and it is in straight contrast to my observations of GBCists (yes, I have had many interactions with them also). If you have failed to account for all the money they spend on congregation devotees, Prasadam distribution, and so many other things.. I cannot help :D It is not a question of money spent, it is a question of how far they have been able to touch numberless souls about the mission of Srila Prabhupada. In India the social system is different; people accept God very nicely, but won't give up their everything. The no. of devotees who have given their heart and soul to the movement may be only 8,000, but lakhs, if not millions, have been given the opportunity to render service to a pure devotee of the Lord, Srila Prabhupada.
This expenditure figure is amusing, yes, but it can do only so much to improve the mission.. :P

      • Yes, There are more than one way to look at this. Bangalore temples have established a solid infrastucture that will go on. We are of course blowing our own conchshell, as they say! Still there is something revealed here; it is possible to preach effectively without spending much money, also.  With this model, we can expand unlimitedly and with very little risk.
