Unlike other sites, there are no "living gooroos" here. As followers of only the purest Beings on the transcendental levels of existence, our Gaudiya Vaisnava disciplic succession, Prabhupadanugas, we ideally adhere to the mood and teachings of our eternal Master Srila Prabhupada. We may bring in some alternative moods and videos etc for education and modern variety, but we should not take them to heart so much as the culture and mood of our spiritual master.
Some find this disorienting when they first come here. They expect some God-like humans such as we see hundreds of among the GBCs, for example, to step forth and save them from material existence, the Gooroo, but here, you must actually pull up your own socks, serve for real, and obtain real spiritual emancipation and advancement through developing your inner relationship with Godhead and Srila Prabhupada as the transparent via media, within your heart, and manifest practically as his instructions and books and recordings.
So far as possible, our members try to give a little experienced knowledge, a little guidance, but it is up to each one of us as individuals to chant our rounds, and to read Srila Prabhupada's books, and to apply the teachings. This site does not coddle, maybe we should more. But there are only so many preachers etc available, and those that are, tend to think themselves too fallen and unqualified.
For example, I am the editor and founder of this site, so people sometimes think me a devotee. That is far from the truth, in that i am bereft of any self realization or good qualities, due to false ego predominating my every thought and action. Sometimes very nice devotees come to me and ask some advice or pose a question etc., and I try to answer nicely, but please remember, perfection is found among perfect persons, so when I might offer something that does not make sense or doesn't apply, that may be expected. So i am mortified at my own lack of ability to serve adequately. There is only one Mahabhagavata of such potency to actually deliver us, that is fortunately abundantly clear to the eyes of our site members.
To be a siksa guru is not an ordinary matter. One ideally must be pure exactly like the diksa guru. Barring that then, we must be tolerant as trees as brahmanas or as new members, both. Varieties of opinions will be there on so many matters; do not expect uniformity among the devotees or their opinions, either. But the core values are there, and they are most uniform; we follow the examples and messages of the Maha-bhagavatas, and so we try to present those teachings here.
