Srila Prabhupada;

This is the greatest drawback of modern education, that not only in your country or any country they have completely neglected what is meant by God. And in India, they are especially… Now, as soon as there is any question of God, they see phobia: “Oh, this is all nonsense.” They have become so clever.

So anyway, my appeal to you, American people, that you are considered to be the leader of all nations of the world. You should take this Krishna conscious movement very seriously. It is good for you. It is good for the whole world. It is individually, collectively, without any consideration of caste, creed, or color.

Everyone can chant Hare Krishna, anyone and everyone, at home, on the street. There is no expenditure. Suppose while walking if you chant Hare Krishna, there is no loss, there is no expenditure, but you see how much you are profited by chanting Hare Krishna.

This is practical. We don’t say that “You come to our temple and give us some subscription. Become our member.” That is a secondary question. Our primary movement is that everyone may take advantage of this movement and simply chant wherever possible, at home, at work, on the street, anywhere. There is no regulation where you have to chant and how you have to chant. It is spontaneous. Simply chant Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare/ Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. There are only three words there: Hare, Krishna, and Rama, but they are adjusted in a different position. There are sixteen words.

So it is not very difficult. You can make an experiment. The children also may take pleasure. We have got our records. If you play those records and chant with it, you will find a transcendental pleasure in you. These are facts. So our request to you, that you take this movement a little seriously, and you will be happy by grace of Krishna.

Thank you very much. If you have got any question, you can ask.

My Dear Kirtika,

Please accept my blessings. Rupanuga Prabhu has recommended you for initiation and I am so glad to accept you as my duly initiated disciple. I have given you the spiritual name Kirtika Devi Dasi. Kirtika is the name of one of the gopis. Also your beads have been duly chanted on by me and are enclosed herewith.

The gopis are so much engaged in the transcendental loving service of Radha and Krishna that they are condemning the creator, Lord Brahma for not knowing how to make perfect eyes. They were disturbed that when blinking their eyes, they could not see Krishna.

So that is perfection in Krishna Consciousness; to be so much engaged in Krishna’s loving service that you cannot bear separation from that service, not even for a moment.

So somehow or other always be engaged. And if there is nothing else, you can always sit down and chant Hare Krishna Mantra. 16 rounds daily is the minimal requirement, but you should chant Hare Krishna as much as possible. And follow all the regulative principles strictly.

Read all our books, attend classes and go for street Sankirtana. In this way be engaged in Krishna’s business 24 hours and you will be happy and in the end you will go back home, back to Godhead.

Hoping this will meet you in good health.

Your ever well-wisher,
A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami

Tips On;  How to benefit from the site

You may be here just to see what goes on, or you may already be serious and wish to attain formal initiation as disciple of Srila Prabhupada. Simply reading his books and following his directives is adequate, however, formal recognition can be achieved onsite also. We have enough materials onsite now such that one can simply read and view what is here, and go back to Godhead.

Join How to; Online Bhakta program among the Groups & Services, by picking the "Groups & Services" feature tab, black letters, right side, at all the page tops, then select  How to; Online Bhakta program group, and clik on that, join, and please read your way through slowly and with comprehension before rushing on. There is no rush, there is a lot of material also! comment as you go if you like! This serves as a nice introduction to persons new to Krsna's service. Like a major novel or a TV series, one need to get to know the characters. This drama has been going on for eternity, so it is impossible to know everything about Krsna and the whole series, so to speak!

We have a complete schedule of classes at introductory and mid levels, leading to bhakti sastri and bhakti associate degrees. See the Classes calendar, main registrar. Then simply go join the associated groups.

We enjoy your comments! You may comment and we ask you to please do so.

You are not expected to do it all or understand much at first. In the long run, we hope you will in fact renounce all personal claims to the world and surrender your life word deeds and everything you possess in His service, as according to your heart's understanding of Srila Prabhupada's directions to you. That is pure devotional service, so the standards are the world's highest in that sense. But there is otherwise no material qualifications for developing love of Godhead! Any and all have this right and inherent capacity. We the disciples have done so, have committed to the group of devotees eternally serving Godhead under the directions of Srila Prabhupada. So it is not a cheap internet site thing. But as you take, it is up to you, take more or less, we are giving it freely. Srila Prabhupada uses the example of an electric current; the current is there, but the electric light bulbs use according to their capacity.

From Srila Prabhupada’s June 22, 1972 letter to Hamsaduta

“So especially you must encourage the students to read our books throughout the day as much as possible, and give them all good advice how to understand the books, and inspire them to study the things from every point of view. In this way, by constantly engaging our tongues in the service of the Lord, either by discussing His philosophy or by chanting Hare Krishna, the truth is that Krishna Himself will reveal Himself to us and we shall understand how to do everything properly.

Now we have got so many students and so many temples but I am fearful that if we expand too much in this way that we shall become weakened and gradually the whole thing will become lost. Just like milk. We may thin it more and more with water for cheating the customer, but in the end it will cease to be any longer milk.

Better to boil the milk now very vigorously and make it thick and sweet, that is the best process. So let us concentrate on training our devotees very thoroughly in the knowledge of Krishna Consciousness from our books, from tapes, by discussing always, and in so many ways instruct them in the right propositions.”

Srila Prabhupada Lecture
Srimad Bhagavatam 1.3.15

“Advancement means… But we don’t change our Vedic knowledge. We do not say, “Now, Kṛṣṇa, five thousand years ago, said like this. Now we are advanced. We change this line.” Of course, others are doing. In the scriptures… Just like the Christians, they are changing the words. But you cannot do that. Then where is the authority? If you change the word of the scripture, then where is the authority of the scripture? Just like in lawbooks, there is some law made already. Whimsically you cannot, I mean to say, erase the words and put something that “It should be changed like this.” That will not be accepted. Law, if there is change… Actually, there is no change. There cannot be change. Real law means there is no change. Just like day and night, it is coming. The fortnight, the dark period and the light period, it is coming for millions and millions and time immemorial. The same law is going, going on. You cannot change. So as soon as you change, that means it is imperfect. You change.
So Vedic laws are not like that. You cannot change. Five thousand years ago Kṛṣṇa said, sarva-dharmān parityajya mām ekaṁ śaraṇaṁ vraja: [Bg. 18.66] “You give up all other religious principles. Simply surrender unto Me.” We are preaching the same thing. No change. No change. There is no possibility of change. Then how Kṛṣṇa is authority? So change means imperfect knowledge.”

"So we should associate by vibration, and not by the physical presence. That is real association.".  Srila Prabhupada lecture, Srimad Bhagavatam, August 18, 1968

Real association means hearing the teachings of the spiritual master, not physically associating with him. Srila Prabhupada speaks about some of his god brothers, who had extensive physical association with Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati, but have become USELESS due to their NOT following the orders of their spiritual master:

"So far as personal association with Guru is concerned, I was only with Guru Maharaj 4 or 5 times, but I have never left his association, not even for a moment. Because I am following his instruction, I have never felt any separation. There are some of my God brothers here in India, who had constant personal association with Guru      Maharaja, but who are neglecting his orders. This is just like the bug who is sitting on the lap of the king. He may be very puffed up by his position but all he can succeed in doing is biting the king. Personal association is not so important as association through serving."

"I went to your country for spreading this information of Krishna Consciousness and you are helping me in my mission, although I am not physically present there but spiritually I am always with you." - Srila Prabhupada letter to Nandarani, Krishna Devi and Subala, October 3, 1967

The real blessings of Srila Prabhupada can be obtained by hearing his teachings, reading his books, hearing his audio lectures, and so on. There were many people who may have had Srila Prabhupada’s physical association, but the real connection with Srila Prabhupada comes when one hears his teachings by reading his books hearing his audio lectures. To judge one’s relationship with Srila Prabhupada on the basis of how much or how little physical association they may have had with him is a material conception. A spiritual conception of the relationship with Srila Prabhupada is judged by how deeply one has imbibed his teachings within one’s heart. -  Kanhaiya prabhu. 2012.

"I am always with you. Never mind if I am physically absent."
        - Srila Prabhupada letter to Jayananda, September 16, 1969

Special Preferences

Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati;422.How does a genuine disciple think? (p.338)

For the genuine devotee of a spiritual master, the genuine disciple, the spiritual master is his entire life, his ideal. His vow is to serve the spiritual master, and though he adores both Krishna and the spiritual master equally, he gives special preference to his spiritual master.
