Srila Jiva Gosvami tells us that: we are not this body, we are the soul inside the body. We are captured in a jail; in a cage. Although we do not want to become old and die, we are bound to become old if we dont die in youth. Our hair will be white, our eyesight will become weak, and the day will come when we are not able to walk without a stick. Then, one day we will have to give up this body.
Within this body there is a transcendental person who is never born and never becomes old or dies. He never becomes a child, a youth or an old person. He is the controller of the entire world and all other souls. He is God. He never dies. He never changes His position. He is almighty, He knows past, present and future. He is omniscient. He can do anything He likes, and He is also very merciful causelessly merciful |

Everything we see by these material eyes is avastava, temporary and ultimately unreal, whereas whatever we see with our soul is vastava, reality. We shall experience transcendental existence when our anarthas (unwanted habits and thoughts) disappear and real prema manifests. Then we can see things as they are. We can have some idea of that real world when we reach the preliminary stage of love of God. At this time, at the stage of bhava-bhakti, transcendental emotions arise in our hearts.

Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura is calling out to the jivas, "Now the night is over." Night does not only mean nighttime. He is calling, "Now is the time to wake up. Now is the time of nisanta-lila, the time to give up the darkness of ignorance, the time to begin bhajana of the holy names of the Lord. Bolo Hari Hari, Mukunda Murari. It is not that Lord Sri Krsna is in His holy name, or that He has taken the form of the holy name. The holy name is Sri Krsna Himself.

We have forgotten Sri Krsna Bhagavan since the beginning of creation. From time immemorial, from the beginning, we have forgotten that we are Krsna dasa, servants of Sri Krsna. This is called night. By Krsnas causeless mercy we were especially given the very strong boat of this human form, and He has given us sat-guru. This is His causeless mercy. He has given the favorable winds of sadhu-sanga, and He has given the human body and intelligence. He has given everything, and this is called morning. Vibhavari-sesa means, "Now your darkness, your night, is about to go, and morning time is coming. If you utilize these opportunities in a good way, your darkness will leave very quickly

The association of high-class bhaktas is glorified everywhere in Srimad Bhagavatam. Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura has written the song "Sudha bhakata carana renu, bhajana anukula." What is the meaning of this song? "The dust from the lotus-feet of the high class of Vaisnavas, especialy those in the line of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, and especially in the line of Srila Rupa Gosvami, is very favorable for success in bhajana. Also, if rasika Vaisnavas are telling all kinds of very high hari-katha, it is so beneficial to hear from them. Therefore, when Sri Sukadeva Gosvami began to give class on Srimad Bhagavatam, including Sri Narada, Sri Vedavyasa and Sri Parasara Muni all the elevated Vaisnavas assembled to hear from him.

Krishna's beauty is sweet, His mother, Yasoda, is sweet, and His father is sweet. Especially His flute is very sweet when He plays on it and smiles with His very sweet and crooked side-long glance. Even the stick which He uses for cow-grazing is very sweet. His Yamuna is very sweet-crooked, but very sweet, and the dancing of peacocks is also sweet. When Krishna speaks, it is so sweet. Do you know who is the sweetest sweet? The gopis are very sweet. Lalita and Visakha and the other eight principle gopis are so sweet. Among them, Srimati Radhika is the sweetest of the sweet. Krishna's going anywhere for cowherding is very sweet, and His calling of the cows - Kalindi, Davali, Syamali - are so very sweet. Everything about Him is sweet. Even His stick, which is three-folded, that is, bent in three places, is sweet. His glancing is sweet, and it penetrates the hearts of all the gopis.

'Bhava mahadavagni nirvapanam bhavati.' All your various flames of worldly fires - everything - will subside. In what proportion will they subside? As much as you are chanting and remembering. In that proportion all kinds of anarthas will subside, but they may come at anytime when you are in bad association. They will again come and attack you. So be careful, because they are not yet burned. They will be burned afterwards.

'Sreyah kairava candrika vitaranam.' This Name is like the moon, because the moon gives its light-rays which are full of nectar and nourishment. In the evening, when the rays are coming, lily flowers begin to gradually blossom. As the night continues so much fragrance comes. From where does it come? Something is coming from the flower and something is coming from the moon. Similarly, Krishna's Name is like that moon, and His rays are compared to the mercy of the Vaisnavas. When this rays touch your heart, it will blossom, and all kinds of good qualities will come. They are bound to come if you chant and remember in this way.

'trnad api sunicena, taror api sahisnuna, amanina manadena.' All good qualities will come. You will be very humble and tolerant, and you will develop a taste in chanting, remembering and serving Vaisnavas. You will be able to give up all your jobs or duties, and come to the Vaisnavas to hear and question. All these qualities will come. There are 26 qualities, as mentioned in Srimad Bhagavatam and Sri Caitanya Caritamrta, which describe a Vaisnava. What are they? Krpalu - mercy, vadanya - magnanimity, suci - cleanliness, akincana - without material possessions, mrdhu - mild, and all other very good qualities. From where will they come? They will automatically come by the rays of the Name and the mercy of Krishna.

This body belongs to Krsna and therefore we must always keep it in healthy condition to the best of our ability, but if due to some past sinful activities, we are suffering some bodily miseries, we should not become discouraged.
