Sep 26, CALGARY, CANADA — If you advertise power, money, and fame, you will attract persons who are desirous of such things. Then, the resulting competition to acquire them will result in the most sinful back-stabbing avaricious persons to rise to the top, just as is seen in politics.
In traditional Vaisnava culture, sannyasis and saintly persons generally take vows of poverty and renunciation. If these things are featured, then only persons desirous of spiritual elevation will be attracted. This model is left aside at everyone’s peril. Srila Prabhupada knows this well, and so he left protecting instructions to avoid both premature guru-ship and purity of the motivations, and hence most actions, of the society’s members.
When ISKCON personnel are paid needless exorbitant salaries, as is strictly against Srila Prabhupada’s instructions, and their spending in not properly accounted for and monitored, not only will this money breed sinful activities, but it will attract those who are after money. Further, the abuse of Krsna’s laxmi incurs sin. I dare say, with straw in my teeth, that these have lead to the UK leadership disasters.
Please, we must follow Srila Prabhupada more carefully, (you know I really mean exactly!), and not introduce foolish changes, at least not in Srila Prabhupada’s temples. If you know better, perhaps alternatively try your own temple organization to see if that works better, and teach us all a good lesson. But if you are taking shelter of Srila Prabhupada’s books, instructions, mercy, temples, then in his house, you may not alter his instructions.
We are a lot smarter than the typical materialists, but we are apparently often not so smart as to know even the immediate consequences of such deviations from Srila Prabhupada’s instructions, what to speak of many such changes accumulated over the centuries. How smart are we, then? You had best be sure that Krsna personally told you, or the guru, before you change the arrangements left us by God’s pure representative, our savior and founding Acarya-deva, Jagad Vaisnava Guru HDG A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada.
Is this not all simple and obvious? Is this fanaticism, or clear thinking? I always tried to follow Srila Prabhupada as best I can, and pray for the surrender and purity to understand and implement his teachings as they are.
Krsna is so kind that he is teachings us lessons. Jaya Sri Krsna! Let us learn these lessons, and not be ostriches.
P.S. In any such major scandal as with Balabhadra Puri, the authorities responsible should immediately resign for their incompetence. This means the GBC for UK must go! Did I read correctly? Not only do the GBC's implicate themselves by harboring this criminal, they then paid him some of Srila Prabhupada’s money??! ! No!! No one is THAT nuts!! This is totally incredible! Get Srila Prabhupada’s money back, you demoniac rascals!!
