Today is Jupiter’s day. Gurudvar- the day of the Guru. Thor’s day. The day of the teacher. Allow me to indulge in honouring dear Guru Tamohara das - Tamohara das taught me many things. He is a very very strong stalwart writer and preacher in honour of Srila Prabhupada. He was graced with his holy association as well as well as Guru Gaur Govinda Swami in very intimate ways. He is very very soft hearted and kind. I saw him cry tears toward his Lord and master Sri Jaganatha. He was always kind to creatures like green frogs and birds, chipmunks. He feeds them always. He is respectful of nature. He has excellent knowledge of history and sciences, and the final conclusions within scriptures. He is well travelled and truthful. A bad lier(!) A memorable cook making amazing savoury dishes which he always offers to His Lord that make the mind dizzy and swooning. He is a trustworthy and dutiful provider. He is very generous. He gave me carte blanch with his credit card and a cherished gold bangle. And indulged me moments of domestic bliss in service to him and his dear Sri Jaganatha. He worships a most outstanding cloth deity of Sri Jaganatha Balaram and Subadra who appeared in this world backward- and he chatised me severely for saying this! Golden Subadra wears a gold heart locket around her neck. He loves simplicity, beautiful music and is a good photographer. He is very very very very Kool - with a capital K. He is always is outstanding in many other things and many arts and sciences as well as things not to be mentioned. He was the very best time in my whole life. For a women, in conventional Vedic culture the husband is Guru. I felt Tamohara das like that. I think I was one of his wives - I am somewhat classical in that way. In other times this would have been permissible. Even it is today in some cultures. In any case that is my experience. In any case Guru Tamohara das has been a massive Guru to me long before he was Guru to others and quickened me to become discerning and develop my intellect. Be devoted and broaden my experience of Bhakti. May he be forever protected and graced by dear Srila Prabhupada’s loving glance.
