  • " The first error in the report is that the "control tower" didn't know about the other acft. That makes sense unless they really mean "the ATC sector" did not know of the acft. That shoud not happen. Almost all airspace at fl340 is controlled...ie  atc should know about all acft. I can't imagine where this airspace is without radar....not over the continental USA. Some of this airspace can b e resiricted airspace for military acft only....Atc should be aware that the restricted airspace is active.  Who the heck suggests that is blood. get outta here!
    In operation since 1957, the KC-135 Stratotanker is used primarily to re-fuel aircraft during flight. Modified KC-135s, however, serve as flying command posts, pure transport, electronic reconnaissance, and photo mapping craft.                                                ( they migh also have been dumping fuel....but not likely)"
