Does a good stereo sound “normal” ? It depends upon the degree of nerve damage and distortion caused by “blockages” such as missing ear drums. Persons with mild or even moderate hearing losses may find they hear better than “normal” aided, especially with varied types of background-noise processing, speech enhancement, automatic directional microphones acting in several channels simultaneously, high fidelity, programmability, and multi-programs. By using one aid only when two are needed, or failing to get such instruments, then there will be a gradual deterioration in brain/ear processing capability, ie use it or lose it .
