His Departing Gift
To taste the mood of seperation fully depends upon the strength of one's love for the person one is missing. So, we the early devotees had no such depth of love for Krsna, and Srila Prabhupada wished us to somehow or other taste the highest thing, the specialized bhava of the Gaudiya sampradayas; the mood of spiritual blues to the point of crying and longing and tasting tears of bliss and anguish.
But we had no such remembered internal reference as the foundation of perfect love for Krsna emotionally, only partially and theoretically. However, we had a life of service to our living spiritual master Srila Prabhupada with us in this realm! We totally surrendered to his mission, became thoroughly attached over time.
His sacrifice of his life, even at the end, enabled us to reference to a great tragedy, the horrific departure of Srila Prabhupada, patita pavana, creating a mood of intense seperation from the spiritual master.
Thus, even in his untimely? departure, he gave us the Matchless Gifts. We now can fully identify, have a full reference, a Person and Persons towards Whom to feel such devotional moods, otherwise unavailable to unconnected neophytes, now neophytes no more.
