If we were truly "One with" Godhead, as some propose, then karma would not adhere to us.
Godhead is greater than karma, therefore if we were essentially Godhead ourselves, karma could not touch us, if we did not choose.
But we experience karma, albeit temporarily, so in some degree, then we are seperate and lesser living entities than Godhead. Or /and, we have chosen/agreed to maintain this illusion of seperation eternally, for sake of a dance. acintya bheda abheda tattva
Each living being thinks her/his life and relationships are everything, as indeed they are for that soul, but one can also look and imagine the mind-sets and lives of others, or even of one's own self in a different variety of realms. It could be quite overwhelming, for us as minute beings. Arjuna became overwhelmed with such a vision of the Universal Form, as analogy.
Yet Krsna sees and feels everything everywhere always, and knows exactly what the souls' experience, and then so much more, having seen and experienced it all since time immemorial. brahmati parmatmeti, bhagavana it sabdyate
Try to imagine what is must be like. We the jiva souls can only go just so far with that...and thus partially omniprescient as allowed by the Supersoul, ie Krsna in the Form of He Who is the Witness. But in general, there is much restriction and the soul concentrates on her or his own particular life and family etc. God sees all. jivera svarupa haya, nityera krsnadasa
Even Godhead likes to forget, to forget He/She are God, to not have to be effected by the endless materialized seperatist varieties created by His/Her minute expansions the living beings in matter. He has His perfect realms. Cintamani prakara sadmasu kalpavrksa.
Therefore, I argue that Krsna sometimes seems callous, because He has His own dream and pastimes, independent. Atmarama. sarva dharmam partiyaja verse 18.66 of Gita, demonstrates that the living being has seperate will and being. Also; "Never was there a time when I did not exist, nor you..." Sri Krsna
