As springtime appears Romania and its people celebrate 'Martisor' a festival where colorful amulets are tied upon friends and relatives as a blessing of health and protection and this is also seen throughout Macedonia, Greece, Bulgaria.
~
A similar festival is celebrated throughout India where they perform 'raksa bandhan' as sisters tie colorful amulets around brothers arms symbolising how they are bound ( bandham ) to their brothers by a tie of affection ( raksi ).
~
'Martisor' meaning 'little march' is from 'mar' a root from Sanskrit meaning to "crush' to 'grind' to 'pound' and this becomes 'maruts' wind gods of the Vedas who accompany the red planet upon its destructive journey and from 'marut' comes 'mars' 'march' and 'martisor'.
~
Romania is the only country which has the exact same words for 'water' which we find in Sanskrit where 'apa' and 'uda' are the words for 'water' just as within the language of Romania 'apa' and 'uda' are their words for 'water'.
~
Romania also possesses the interesting word 'vadhuva' whose meaning is 'widow' a word which can be seen within 'vidhava' a word from the language of Sanskrit whose meaning is 'widow' and also cognate with the word 'widow'.
~
One who considers the chicken and egg will recognise 'vi' a root from Sanskrit meaning to 'separate' and 'dhava' a word from Sanskrit meaning 'husband' as in that which separates ( vi ) from husband ( dhava ) hence 'vadhuva' and 'widow' are both chickens which have hatched from the language of Sanskrit.
~
Romania also possesses 'varcolac' a word whose meaning is 'wolf' and this can be seen within 'vrka' a word from the language of Sanskrit whose meaning is the 'wolf' and a word which is also cognate with 'wolf'.
~
Once again the chicken and egg where we find 'vrk' a root from Sanskrit whose meaning is to 'seize' to 'take' and this becomes 'vrka' meaning 'wolf' as in that which 'seizes' as in that which 'takes' as in the nature of a 'wolf'.
~
And finally carved upon a mountain face overlooking the 'Danube' is a great hero of Romania named 'Decebalus' a king whose name is formed from two Sanskrit words as in one who possesses the strength ( bala ) of ten ( dasha ) men.
