A Brief Reflection on Love, and Life's Affairs:
I have certainly fallen, been, in love, a number of times in my life. I have been intoxicated, infatuated, delighted, served and serving, all of that ...
And each time it has eventually lost its original sweetness and hope ...
I've come to realize it's not about 'being in love.' But about 'being in Krsna.'
I am absolutely not dismissing the need for most of us to have a very special intimate loving partnership with someone we are very compatible with... but if that partnership is to really work, if it is not only to last, but to grow both people in it, then the natural effect of our being together must be to inspire and increase our Krsna-consciousness, our hearing and chanting and remembering and serving ... and our taste.
Just as we are meant for His service as individuals, so are we meant as couples.
When our personal and our spiritual lives come together, ah, then we can truly say we are in love, we are in Krsna. Then by being with each other, our spiritual service and our spiritual taste grows.
Else it is not working ... not in the real sense. And eventually, we must be disappointed, because we're not watering each other's hearts, we're pulling each other away from our true self-interest ... and even the most beautiful external things grow stale ...
I wish I had realized this a lot sooner in life But, hey, that's what life is for ... to keep learning and growing ...
