On November 28-29, 2014 Bhakti Vedanta Institute, Princeton NJ, USA and Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Institute, Siliguri, WB, India in collaboration with Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur, AP, India are organizing a two day International Conference “Is Science able to explain the Scientist? (Science and Scientist – 2014)". For the pleasure of Srila Prabhupada, under the guidance of Sripad Bhakti Madhava Puri Maharaja, Ph.D. (Serving Director, Bhakti Vedanta Institute & Conference Chair: Science and Scientist – 2014) we are organizing the 2nd edition of this annual conference on the 77th auspicious appearance day of our spiritual master Srila Bhaktisvarupa Damodara Goswami Maharaja (Dr. T.D. Singh). The conference will be held at Deichmann Seminar Hall, Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur, AP, India.
Science and Scientist – 2014 will bring together leading Biologists, Engineers, Scientists and Academicians from around the world. The main goal of this conference is to provide a platform for the academic, scientific and industrial community to cultivate a spirit of genuine scientific inquiry toward Life and Its Origin based on 21st century biology. A secondary goal is to inspire researchers to recognize and understand the scientific validity of the ancient Vedantic wisdom. This conference will provide a new forum for discussion of the ways and means to promote 'Harmony of Science and Religion.'
Over the past decade biology has witnessed a revolutionary challenge to its understanding of the organism. This is based on (1) the recognition that the Modern Synthesis of evolution has failed to account for the expansive genetic data available to us today; (2) the well-known limits of reductionism in molecular biology especially in the origin of life studies; and (3) a growing interest in the cognitive nature of life as a genuine scientific problem.
