WASHINGTON: Twenty-six US Congressmen have sent a letter to President Barack Obama “demanding a legal justification from the White House for signature drone strikes.”

According to a press release, Congressman Dennis Kucinich and 25 other members of the Congress said that drone strikes “could significantly increase risks of killing innocent civilians or those with no relationship to a potential attack on the US and further inflame anti-American sentiment abroad”.

The letter, signed by 24 Democrat and 2 Republican members of the US House, demands information regarding the authorisation and execution of signature drone strikes along with the mechanisms used by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) to ensure the legality of such killings.

It also questions “the nature of the follow-up that is conducted when civilians are killed or injured… and the mechanisms that ensure civilian casualty numbers are collected, tracked and analysed.”

    Dear Tamohara Dasa Prabhu:

My most humble obeisances.  AGTSP.  I find the New World Order concept to be an interesting one.  I thought it was mostly a hollow propaganda buzzword used by Bush I to try to enlist support for Iraq War I.  As such, the term made some people on the right in the U.S. nervous, especially since it is similar to Hitler's expression "New Order."  They were afraid as always of the U.S. Govt. getting more and more power.

To me, the idea, if not the expression, was revived by Clinton in terms of his globalist, NAFTA, GAFTA, SHAFTA ideal.  I think it was really a product of the tech bubble, and Clinton's people thought they could use free trade to dump the old smokestack industries on China, while we would do the clean high tech stuff.  That, of course, became obviously silly when the high tech bubble burst as all the others had before it.

Then came Bush II with his Global War on Terror, trying to push executive branch power to the limits, while handing more and more cash to the one percenters.  Obama was briefly looking like an insurgent against all of this, until he brought Mrs. Clinton into his administration.  This signalled that he was following Clinton's old policies, but I think now in the service of the super wealthy, just like Bush II.  An awful example is this new free trade agreement being promoted.

Ultimately all of them are in the service of Maya and they don't know it in many cases.  I wonder if their grabbing up of all the material things will ultimately push the rest of us into spiritual realization, as we have less and less.   On the other hand, maybe they want to push us into a bestial existence where we have no time to do anything but work as their serfs.

These days it's less easy to keep people in the dark, which is why there has been an Arab Spring and Wikileaks, as well as OWS.

      • An old and appropriate number from the sixties which i think people nowadays could also identify with enough to feel a bit of this themself. Mostly, when i see corruption exposed, i'm more inclined towards contsructive or destructive work, as necessary, but something remediative, to remove the evil , and thus protect  myself and others, rather than  turn that anger inward to self-destructive or negative frames of mind or paranoid self-absoprtion, ie Maya. Exs.; sankirtana, preaching work, raising a Krsna conscious family nicely, etc rigorous determined uninterrupted devotional service.
