- Lenny Sislac This truck was standing there for years without police ever complaining. Someone must have filed charges, otherwise police wouldn't have shown up. Can someone plz phone Culver City police station and find out who pressed charges to have this truck removed from private temple compound? Thanks!

Lenny Sislac @ "what actually happened?" Subuddhi das who cleaned LA temple floor for 30 years had to sleep in an old van which was parked on temple territory. Now, after 30 years police told him to remove his van from private temple territory (actually this is civil law). When he protested they opened fire on him. His last word was - "Hare Krishna"...Thats the whole story in a nutshell.

James Cray I don't understand. You can register a car in CA as PNO which means that the vehicle will not be driven, towed, stored, or parked on public roads or highways for the entire registration year for $19. I think the devotee community should find an attorney that will work on contingency and sue the police. This is ridiculous and a travesty.- James Cray Does he have any family that can intervene as well?

So, yes, without being there we should take it they probably misunderstood his intentions,and killed him, we should find out if it was his registered gun, if not they might have shot him and PLANTED the gun on him .....two words ARMARENDRA DAS.
Caitanya Dasi Please! Stop saying that devotees did not try to help Subuddhi! Ratna Bhusana and others reached out and tried to help him. Also, Subuddhi revealed to one devotee that on Friday he took the gun with him and was going to do suicide by cop, but he couldn't go through with it. Then on Saturday, he made the conscious decision to follow through. Don't blame this on the police, or devotees not caring...please; when someone is depressed, can't think straight, etc. it is a conscious decision to commit suicide. Devotees tend to be very judgmental and quick to blame others very easily (myself included). I think we need to just focus on praying for Subuddhi and the GBC and TP's and devotee community need to come up with a way to offer some kind of free counseling and mental health guidance for those who need it. Yes he was a great soul but he could snap when he wanted to. lol! Also, you don't know what troubles are in another person's head. There are many factors why Subuddhi Dasa Prabhu, who we all loved dearly decided to do what he did. Only Krsna and Srila Prabhupada knows. Don't fault find or be offensive to the devotees here in LA. You don't live here and don't know the half of it. Why not get into glorifying this great devotee Subuddhi Das Prabhu. Does it really matter the way a person left this world? Jagadambika Dasi For those who want to know: What lead up to it, was that the City of LA did an inspection of all the apartments in our area. NOt just temple but Karmi apts. too. They have their regular scheduled times. There was also all over the news Saturday and Sunday that a "John Doe" man unidentified was shot and killed by Culver City Police. They are usually not shooting at anyone in Culver City PD. Anyway, I even had to drive in that area, and could not get through all day because the police tape was up. Others had to go in that area too but no one thought the man would be Subuddhi that was shot. One of the things the City said for our properties during inspection, was that Subuddhi's Camper could not be parked there by BBT. They already warned us about it when he was parked in Ratna's lot a few years ago. It did not have plates. Expired etc. Then he moved it by BBT Parking area. He lived in that vehicle. He was so humble. It is a commercial vehicle. Etc. Long story. City Rules. Subuddhi Das Prabhu had gotten away with it for a few years, but this last inspection it came up again, this issue. I'm not sure if he had fines on the vehicle or not. It really was not driveable. No plates. Anyway, the inspeciton was last Thursday. And Subuddhi apparently told Sarva Bhauma Dasa on Friday that he wanted to die. He was talking suicide etc. I never heard him say that. Last time I saw Subuddhi was on Thursday. He did seem upset and was rushing by. So, RatnaBushana Dasa Prabhu remembered on Monday, that Subuddhi Dasa Prabhu was talking about suicide to him as well, and he was going to go to the Police Dept. Etc. with a gun. I guess to challenge the city, not clear on this part. But he told Ratna Bushana Das that he had a gun and was going to go to the Culver City Police Dept. I guess they did not take him serious about suicide. So after a couple of days of devotees not seeing him and looking for him, his vehicle being locked, Ratna Bhusana Das Prabhu remembered what Subuddhi Prabhu said. Ratna went to Police Dept. and sure enough it was Subuddhi Dasa who was shot by the police to death. He had a gun and told the police, "I have a gun". He would not drop it when told to. I'm not sure if his mind was straight at that point because he did not drop the gun, too distraught. So he was killed. Sarva said that Subuddhi dasa said he tried suicide before but it did not work. So I guess he knows he will be a ghost if he did, so he let the police kill him.Monday night the police towed away the camper. After Ratna went over there inquiring. They had to do an investigation to try and find his next of kin. I don't know why Subuddhi Dasa Prabhu didd what he did. There are many factors what is inside another's head. He could have talked to someone to get help. But I guess Krsna wanted to give him a better home. I'm so sad he had to go this way. He was truly a good devotee. We are all hurting here in LA by this. And many devotees have reached out to him in the past. Can we just focus on the good things about him. He liked living in that camper. It's not like he did not have the option of living in an apartment. Hare Krsna.
