Lord Balarama is the Best! He has friendly, protective and dasya rasa in relation to Krsna. His pastimes are always ecstatic and filled with love. He does not care overmuch for rules and regulations, however. He enjoys comedy and going mad.
We hear on p 129 how Kaliya had been cursed. In past ages, these things worked quickly, but in Kali yuga, curses etc, magic powers, second sight, all these things are slow and dull to dead. Every age has it characteristic qualities. Kali stifles the finer things, restricts. We are like fat dumplings in a shared curry bowl of illusions sauce and karma vegetables.
Krsna has unlimited power to do anything He desires. Being part and parcel of Krsna, this means we also want unlimited satisfaction. but first, we must realize complete onness with Krsna, by realizing the eternal dance of service and seperation in unity.
Krsna needs an observor of His pastimes, so He seperates into; US !
Although the chapter is called "Krishna extinguishes the forest fire", most of it is about Kaliya ! I guess the one chapter would have ben too short, so it merged with the preceding one? HK
