na gṛhṇāti hi śiṣyas cet tadā pāpaṁ guror na hi

Not only the Spiritual master should be qualified, the disciple should also be qualified. Only then the process is successful. Therefore without a qualified guru, and without becoming a qualified disciple it is not possible to attain God. So first of all, we must become qualified disciples.
