You've called me pathetic and egotistical, do you know me?  Probably not because if you did, you would have included judgmental, self-centered and arrogant in your list of my many, many faults.

Regarding cognitive dissonance/resonance, I've found that the safest way to minimize these tools of Maya is to only have one belief: the belief in Srila Prabhupada.  If he says something, even if sounds wrong, I accept it.  So when I heard, about a dozen years ago, Srila Prabhupada saying that he was poisoned (on a video), I accepted it to be truth, however unlikely it might seem to be.  Technically he mentions the possibility that he has been poisoned and says, "I think it is so."  There are several other recordings, where he says reiterates that he believes that he's been poisoned. That's good enough for me.  The other evidence, uncovered by Nityananda Prabhu and the Truth Committee is just supporting evidence, but it is irrefutable.  I suggest that you read the book, if Srila Prabhupada's words aren't enough evidence for you.  It is well written and gives us a glimpse into the life of our spiritual master because it reconstructs the events day by day using diaries, tapes and personal recollections.  The myriad of evidence is irrefutable.  But you can't not refute it if you don't read it.  Here is a synopsis of the evidence collected:
  • Prabhupada on tape discussing that the thinks he is being poisoned, numerous conversations survived although most tapes are "missing"
  • An analysis of Srila Prabhupada physical symptoms, including extreme light sensitivity (photos of Srila Prabhupada wearing sunglasses in a dimly lit room), persistant cough and extreme swelling of the extremities, symptoms which are not consistent with diabetes or kidney failure
  • Forensically enhanced tapes with sinister whispers--expert opinions included
  • Highly advanced hair sample testing with conclusive results for rocket high cadmium and 9 expert opinions
  • Troubling timeline showing that each time a new doctor was brought in to treat Srila Prabhupada, Prabhupada's symptoms worsened, resulting in a parade of doctors, none being allowed to treat him for more than a few days, and hence none concluding poisoning
  • The mystery of the missing tapes:  most of the tape recordings of Srila Prabhupada for his last months were "misplaced"
  • In his last few days, Srila Prabhupada asked to have a Brijbasi kaviraja brought to see him, and immediately tells the kaviraja that he's being poisoned, knowing that the doctor will tell the Vrndavana community, which he did
  • A gurukula boy claims to many devotees to have overheard 10 senior disciples discussing poisoning Srila Prabhupada.  A conversation mentioning the presence of the boy substantiates his claim that he was there.  The boy disappeared, however, and that mystery is explored in the book.
It's over 400 pages of research and data.  This synopsis only touches the surface.
I've talked with Hansadutta Prabhu about this issue and I fully understand if he doesn't want to believe it.  Because he was one of the people who benefited from Srila Prabhupada's untimely passing, for many devotees, he's a suspect.  I would be very surprised if he was involved because of his obvious sincerity and his genuine remorse from the part he played in the sad saga.  Additionally I've heard some 2nd hand accounts that lead me to conclude that he probably wasn't involved in the physical poisoning.  However, I can understand that Srila Prabhupada didn't confide in anyone who was close to him, because he knew that the culprit(s) was/were in his inner circle.  He called for an outsider, the kaviraja, to confide, and then left his body at a time and situation of his own choosing.  If you read the book, you'll understand that Srila Prabhupada was in control of the situation and left of his own accord, not because he was killed by the cadmium load that was enough to kill an elephant.
I've benefited greatly from Hansadutta Prabhu's association an hope that my discussing these matters won't result in the loss of his friendship. I think that this "awareness" wave that the Truth Committee has started would be benefited if he'd publicly agree that the evidence is irrefutable.
In the past, devotees have come to realize the truth of what has happened in ISKCON at various times, and due to various circumstances.  For myself, I left ISKCON in 1988 to become a full time grhamedi when I could no longer support promoting pure devotees who were obviously conditioned souls.  It wasn't until the late 90s that I found out about the July 9th letter and by that time I was no longer active within the devotee community.  I only found out about the poisoning about 12 years ago and at that time the evidence was refutable because the hair analysis only showed enough arsenic to contribute to death, not cause it.  There was never a "truth wave" until now, it was more of a "truth seep" , occurring over many decades.  The cadmium information changes everything and now is the time to bring the truth to light.  I'm happy to do my small part to assist the Truth Committee in seizing this opportunity.
Thank you for your kind words of support for our efforts towards the 2nd half of Srila Prabhupada's mission.
Wishing you the best,
Anuttama

What's disturbing is your taking on the role of the Awakener. Don't you think Supersoul is trying to get through to devotees? Why does He need you to supplement His efforts? All of this -- the abused kids, the edited books, the phony gurus -- has been in devotees' faces for years and years. And the Guru Within knows everything that you know. Still people remain due to denial. if God-in-the-heart can't lift their fog, why can you?  People in general are simple, and devotees are just people. You can fix that, can you?
Because you are armed with the cadmium conspiracy theory, now you're fired up. The pollution of Prabhupada's mission and the theft of his books wasn't enough? NOW you're angry?
The cadmium theory is just a theory. Nityananda wasn't there, these scientists weren't there. Hansadutta Prabhu was there and he says it's balderdash. He spent two solid months by Prabhupada's bed, often alone with him for hours and they were close. He says, and I believe him, that as a trained pharmacist and the knower of his own body, Prabhupada would have surely told him if poison was involved.
Nityananda is beginning with a supposition, seeking evidence to support it and finding it, because you find what you're looking for. It's called cognitive resonance.
I find your crusade to save the less aware egotistical. On the other hand, your service to the ideal of simple living/high thinking is very very laudable and I wish you all success with your cow protection.
