p 81"one maysearch for Krsna the Sipreme Personality of Godhead through the pages of the Vedas and Upanisadas, but if one is fortunate enough to associate with a devotee, he can see the Supreme Personality of Godhead face to face." This proves that krpa siddhi, perfection on account of mercy, is the best path, but that only one who has accumulated great merits is eligible to receive that mercy.
- the cowherd boys were playing with Krsna only after accumulating pious activities for many births. So, it sounds like the cowherds , some of them were new to the entourage, nbot just descended perfect ones from Vrndavana in Goloka. We are given to understand that if we are eligible, after this lifetime, we will take birth somewhere where Krsna's pastimes are going on within the material worlds, and that is actually the last step from maya to pure service.
1.Yes, the time frames that the transcedentalists deal with is immense. 100 years seems a very harsh punishment for the crime. It demonstrates how strict and non-compromising some of the powerful yogis are. One can be a powerful yogi and still be lacking in minor compassion or forgiveness , but the 100 years acted to dispell all sins and thus the highest perfection was also given, so one may say it was a mercy, the confinement and liberation. The benefits from being part of this pastime do not end, whereas 100 yrs passes.
2 good point! We do not control the bodies we inhabit, so it is not even our look-out entirely! The Supreme Maintainer does most of the work automatically-like. There IS no automatice, it is all by the Lords's will, and the point i make is that we actually control only a fraction of our bodily actvities. We desire, the body acts/ We breathe, eat, sleep, and do not control the functions, just respond to the body's demands and the rest is done for us, such as respiration, glucose uptake, exchange of fluids between organs etc; we have not consciousness even of those activities in any but superficial form.
3 poor people feel pains of others; very good to bring this up. Brahmanas also take vows of poverty, the better to not be greedy selfish persons.
