"There are unlimited number of living entities, asaṅkhya. The living entities, they are also calculated in the Padma Purāna:

 

keśāgra-śata-bhāgasya

satadhā kalpitasya ca

jīvo bhāgasya vijñeyaḥ

sa anantāya kalpate

(Śvetāśvatara Upaniṣad 5.9)

 

Anantāya: there is no limit. Nobody can count how many living entities are there. Paramāṇu. Just like we cannot count how many paramāṇus or atoms are there within this universe. It is not possible. Similarly, we cannot count.

In the Vedas also it is stated, nityo nityānām cetanaś cetanānām (Kaṭha Upaniṣad 2.2.13). So the nitya, eternal; and cetana means living being. So Kṛṣṇa, or God, He is the chief living being, or the chief eternal, nityo nityānām, and we living entities—innumerable.

 

He is one, but we are many, plural number, nityo nityānām. So one nitya is sin

 

"In the spiritual world there is no display of inferior energy; there is only that superior energy, cetana, cidya-vat. The spiritual world is therefore called living world. There is no manifestation of this acetana, or inanimate. There are also varieties, as we have got here.

 

There is water, there are trees, there is land. Not nirviśeṣa, not impersonal—everything is there—but they are all made of the superior energy. It is described that Yamuna River is flowing with her waves, but when Kṛṣṇa appears on the bank of the Yamuna, the waves stop to hear Kṛṣṇa's flute.

 

These are the description. When Kṛṣṇa passes through the roads of Vṛndāvana, the fruits and flowers, they offer their obeisances, and Kṛṣṇa understands, and He takes. So this is the position of the spiritual world."

"Now, in our idea, because we are very teeny, we can see this Pacific Ocean before us—"the greatest." But even in comparison to the universe, it is not even a drop of water. In comparison to the universe there are millions and trillions of Pacific Oceans floating in the sky.

 

So what is this Pacific Ocean in comparison to the universe? Therefore it is not greatest. But to our idea, we are thinking it is the greatest. This is called relative truth. This is scientifically truth, Professor Einstein's theory, relativity. We think something very great or greatest according to our capacity of understanding.

 

We are very teeny, so we think that this Pacific Ocean, the greatest. The frog philosophy. Everyone is thinking that his unde

 

"Just like we say: "Rādhā-Kṛṣṇa." Rādhā-Kṛṣṇa. So Rādhā's name is first. Why? Nobody can be better devotee than Rādhārāṇī. So as soon as Rādhā's name is there, Kṛṣṇa is more pleased. So that is the way. So if we glorify the devotees, the character of the devotees, before the Lord, He's more pleased than to glorify Himself, directly."

"Exactly like if you take one iron rod, put into the fire, it becomes warmer, warmer, and at last it becomes red hot. When it is red hot, it is no longer iron, it is fire.

Similarly, if you constantly become in touch with the Supreme Lord by chanting His holy name, which is not different from the Supreme Lord, then you become spiritually purified.

And as soon as you are spiritually purified, then all misunderstandings of this material world immediately vanquished. That is called Kṛṣṇa consciousness."

"So it will increase. You cannot stop Kṛṣṇa's glories. You cannot stop Kṛṣṇa's supremacy. That is not possible. Mattaḥ parataraṁ nānyat kiñcid asti dhanañjaya (BG 7.7).

Therefore it is sure and certain that if you work very sincerely for Kṛṣṇa to spread His message, the message of Bhagavad-gītā, there cannot be any check. It is not possible.

Ahaituky apratihatā (SB 1.2.6). Apratihatā means it cannot be checked by any material condition. You go on with your duty sincerely, there will be no power to check your progress."

"We are proposing successful life. So whatever you do, you just become Kṛṣṇa conscious, and at least he will feel that, "I am . . . my future hope is there. There is Kṛṣṇa." That is successful life. At least he is hopeful that he is going to Kṛṣṇa."

"So this knowledge means to understand the original source. That is philosophy: find out the original source. That is knowledge. So the vedaiś ca sarvair aham eva vedyo (BG 15.15). Actually the knowledge terminates when you understand Kṛṣṇa. He is the source of everything."

"I give intelligence to the person who is always engaged in devotional service with love." So Brahmā was educated by Kṛṣṇa through the heart, tene brahma hṛdā ya ādi-kavaye."

"Without understanding our relationship with the Supreme Lord, whatever we are creating by our industrialization, economic development or so on, so, it is all defeat, because we are losing the chance. Lord Jesus Christ also said in one place that, "If we are lost of our soul and if we gain the whole world, then what is the gain?"

 

Actually that is the fact. We are losing ourself. Suppose after making huge amass of money, amassing in the bank balance, and if I die and if I take birth in the next life as a cat and dog, then what is the benefit of amassing such a huge amount of bank balance? We should understand this."

"The Bhagavad-gītā, it will point that if you can achieve Kṛṣṇa . . . how you can achieve Kṛṣṇa? Kṛṣṇa does not require any service from you but the love. If you can achieve Kṛṣṇa, then you will feel that "I don’t require anything more." Yaṁ labdhvā: by gaining which a person thinks, "Complete, full."

 

Dhruva Mahārāja said when he saw Viṣṇu, he says, svāmin kṛtārtho ’smi varaṁ na yāce (CC Madhya 22.42) "My dear Lord, my all desires and demands are now fulfilled. I don’t want anything." This is Kṛṣṇa consciousness. If actually one becomes Kṛṣṇa conscious, he has no more demand for anything material."

Prabhupada "Rascals say, "By chance." It is coming by chance? Just see. Show me anything within your experience which has come by chance. Anything, whatever you like, show me, come by chance, which has come by chance."

 

Hṛdayānanda: "I can say . . . "Yes, I was . . . became sick by chance."

 

Prabhupāda: "Eh?"

 

Hṛdayānanda: "I became sick by chance."

 

Prabhupāda: "No, no. Then again you are rascal. You infected some disease; then you became sick. There is no chance."

 

Gurukṛpā: "The other day, Śrīla Prabhupāda, I went in the shower, and I turned on the shower, and the thing broke and hit me on the head. It was chance."

 

Prabhupāda: "Yes, because you are rascal, therefore it hit you. (laughter)"

 

Gurukṛpā: "So it was chance."

 

Prabhupāda: "It was not chance. You are a rascal, and you were hit

 

"Similarly, this life is full of danger always. Always in danger. Any moment it can be finished. There are so many instances. People look it, but they forget. That is the wonderful thing. They are seeing every day, every moment, that he is himself in danger, others are in danger.

 

Still, he is thinking that "I am secure." This is the position. So life is very tottering and in dangerous position. Therefore one should take advantage of this human form of life and immediately engage in Kṛṣṇa consciousness. That should be the request of everyone to his mind, "My dear mind, don't drag me in the dangerous position. Please keep me in Kṛṣṇa consciousness."

"One should be Kṛṣṇa conscious, or God conscious, why? Because He is the master of your self and the most intimate friend, suhṛt. Yathā ātmeśvara.
