Purushottama Dasa Thakura Disappearance

Shri Purushottama Dasa constantly meditated on and served the lotus feet of Lord Nityananda. Kanu Thakura, his son, was such an exalted Devotee that Lord Krishna always lived in his body. When Kanu was five Ma Jahnava took him to Vrindavana. The Goswamis joyously greeted him upon seeing his genuine devotion.

In Goloka Vrindavana, Purushottama Dasa Thakura serves Lord Balarama as a cowherd boy, dvadasha gopala. His samadhi is located in the 64 Samadhis Area.

Srila Gaur Govinda Swami Disappearance

wwh-preacher.png

His Divine Grace Srila Gour Govinda Swami Maharaj appeared on the 2nd of September in the Gaurabda year 443 (1929 A.D.) in Orissa, India. Both his parents were devotees of Krishna and Jagannath, as were their ancestors up to the time of Sri Syamananda Prabhu. His mother’s family were the famous kirtaniyas of Gadai Giri. Thus most of His Divine Grace’s child- and boyhood was spent in Gadai Giri, in the company of his uncles and maternal grandfather, having kirtan and worshiping their ancient family deity, Sri Gopal Jiu. He was never attached to play, but rather spent his time reading Srimad Bhagavatam and Sri Chaitanya Charitamrta and singing Hare Krishna.

In April 1974, on Ramnavami, the day of the holy appearance of Lord Ramachandra, His Divine Grace left his family to search for Sri Guru. He was now 45 years old but had since childhood had the desire to accept the renounced order of life, sannyasa, and preach the message of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. He was already acquainted with man

GGS, 1978, Bhubaneswara

9468724879?profile=originalnear-last book section; ....So with Bhagavata Prabhu gone, and Gour Govinda Swami Maharajah absorbed in his samadhi of book translation, that left me as secretary treasurer with a responsibility.

I had earned a few thousand Canadian carving candles back in Montreal before i came over, and had deposited about 27, 000 rupees in the Commercial Bank, which had just opened down the road Highway No 5 national, the one outside our ashrama. Exchange rates were roughly seven to one in those years. We needed a few things; more on this later...

One day, we had an engagment in Nilamadhava Mandira on the bank of the Mahanadi. The mosquitoes that night were fierce, and Gour Govinda Maharajah was to sleep in a dark room with so many of them hovering. So, realizing that it was best to protect him, the older sannyasi, I took my net, went to his room, and with him sleeping, set the net up around him safely. Then, i took my sleeping bag and walked a slight rise up to a low hil

Minimum Words, Maximum Solution
Srila Prabhupada. The individual soul is never lost. He does not die, nor is he born. He simply changes from one body to another, just as one changes garments. This is perfect science.
Dr. Singh. But why don't scientists accept this?
Srila Prabhupada. They are not nice men. They are rascals. They are not even gentlemen. Under appropriate circumstances, gentlemen will have some shyness or some shame. But these men are shameless. They cannot properly answer our challenges, yet they shamelessly claim that they are scientists and that they will create life. They are not even gentlemen. At least I regard them like that. A gentleman will be ashamed to speak nonsense.
Dr. Singh. They do not think before they speak.
Srila Prabhupada. That means that they are not human beings. A human being thinks twice before saying anything. Krsna makes the presence of life within the body so easy to understand. He says:

dehino 'smin yatha dehe / kaumaram yauvanam jara
tatha d

o    After saying several times throughout the previous years, not to read any other books but his, here’s what Srila Prabhupada then said on a morning walk, May 13, 1975, Perth, Australia:

Paramahaṁsa: Śrīla Prabhupāda, I remember once I heard a tape where you told us that we should not try to read the books of previous ācāryas.

Prabhupāda: Hmm?

Amogha: That we should not try to read Bhaktivinoda’s books or earlier books of other, all ācāryas. So I was just wondering…

Prabhupāda: I never said that.

Amogha: You didn’t say that? Oh.

Prabhupāda: How is that?

Amogha: I thought you said that we should not read the previous ācāryas’ books.

Prabhupāda: No, you should read.

Amogha: We should.

Prabhupāda: It is misunderstanding.

Paramahaṁsa: I think maybe he was thinking that there was some things about some of the Gauḍīya Matha books.

Prabhupāda: Maybe.

Paramahaṁsa: And sometimes you said that better not to, better to read your books.

Amogha: When the devotees went to India this year, they said that Acyuta

Sri Krishna Madhura Utsava

images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRJhJdieXzA7xZaL3SEhyaoGosXCuLtKdankhR6qLkF-NNt_iE4

There are various festivities where Lord Krishna's rasa lila is celebrated – this festival being just one of them. The purnima or full moon of Damodara month is the second full moon of the autumn season, and rasa lila is again celebrated.

This second rasa yatra is celebrated more in Bengal, whereas the first one is celebrated more in Vrindavana. On this day one should perform full worship of Radha and Krishna with many flowers, and place them in a rasa mandapa surrounded by the gopis.

Sri Krishna Vasant Rasa is similar excepting that it is in the Spring (Vasant), at this time everyone dresses in yellow. On this full moon night the devotees usually leave out pots of sweet rice payasam for the Lord to enjoy during His rasas.

Narottama Dasa Thakura Appearance

Narottama Dasa Thakura

Appearing as the son of a king, Shri Narottama Dasa Thakura (Shri Thakura Mahasaya) showed all the bodily symptoms of a mahapurusha (an exalted divine person). He had long arms, a deep navel, golden-complexioh, beautiful eyes shaped like the lotus petals. In school, he was a sruti dhara (able to memorize whatever he hears) Although he quickly mastered Sanskrit and the Vedas, he hankered to serve Krishna. He was a lifelong brahmachari. Abhay Charan Das sent this;

9468723093?profile=original1972 Correspondence If you think of me and work for me, then I am in your heart. If you love somebody he is in your heart. It is common thing, everyone understands it.

Letter to Jadurani -- New Vrindaban 4 September, 1972 : Regarding your questions, second initiation is real initiation. First initiation is the preliminary, just to make him prepared, just like primary and secondary education. The first initiation gives him chance to become purified, and when he is actually purified then he is recognized as a brahmana and that means real initiation.

The eternal bond between disciple and spiritual master begins from the first day he hears. Just like my spiritual master. In 1922 he said in our first meeting, you are educated boys, why don't you preach this cult. That was the beginning, now it is coming to fact. Therefore the relationship began from that day. If you think of me and work for me, then I am in your heart. If you love somebody he is in your heart

Conversation with Srila Prabhupada Bombay, January 9, 1977...Meaning of Surrender:

Guest 10 (Indian Man) "Prabhupada, surrender, sar...,word, if you can give us a full explanation of the word surrender. What's the meaning of surrender and how one should do it? Basis of surrender."

Srila Prabhupada: "Surrender, this is surrender, that...First of all, why you surrender? You must know it perfectly well that "Krsna is master; I am servant." Otherwise there is no question of surrender. Then you have to believe that "Krsna says, aham tvam sarva papebhyo moksayisyami. So now I have surrendered. I have no more fear. Krsna will give me protection." To believe firmly..."Krsna is all powerful. Krsna is my master. He is not a fakir, that He's talking nonsense." We have to believe that. This is surrender. If you think, "Krsna is another fakir like me. He's talking nonsense," then that is not surrender. You have to believe that.

That is explained in the Caitanya-caritamrta

Dakṣa śraddadhānaḥ: faithful. Faithful to whom? To the spiritual master. Whatever he says, the brahmacārī should take it: "Yes, it is my life and soul." That is the explanation given by Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura. He is explaining with reference to the verse vyavasāyātmikā buddhir ekeha kuru-nandana [Bg. 2.41]. He very nicely explains. You have perhaps read it, Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura's... Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura has taught very, very nicely about guru. Therefore he has written in Gurvaṣṭaka, yasya prasādād bhagavat-prasādaḥ **. He is example, practical example of guru-bhakti, Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura. He accepted his guru, Narottama dāsa

Nityananda Trayodasi

Nityananda Prabhu

Lord Nityananda is the eternal associate of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Rarely is the name Nimai (Chaitanya Mahaprabhu) taken without that of Nitai (Lord Nityananda). Mahaprabhu cannot be approached or understood without the mercy of Nityananda Prabhu, who is the cardinal guru of all the universes and serves as an intermediary between Mahaprabhu and His Devotees. Govinda's Farm

Homa Organic Farming

Posted: 09 Feb 2014 01:43 PM PST

Dear Readers;

We know that the cow is so very valuable and not only for her milk, cream, butter, yogurt and ghee but her dung and urine as well. Here is an article from https://www.iskconbangalore.org/cow-protection.

Srila Prabhupada writes: The human society should recognize the importance of the cow and the bull and thus give all protection to these important animals.
In Vedic tradition, cows are worshipped as mothers. It is because just as one sucks the breast of one’s mother, human society takes cow’s milk. Similarly, the bull is the father of human society because just as the father earns for the children the bull tills the ground to produce food grains. Human society will kill its spirit of life by killing the cows and bulls which are to be considered our mother and father. To kill cows means to end human civilization.
Cow-protection.jpgA civilized man is, therefore, expected to give all protection to the bulls and cows.

Varaha Dvadasi

shwetha-varaha-2.jpg

Varahadeva is the boar incarnation Sri Krsna. He assumed the form of a boar to lift the drowning planet earth from the Garbhodaka Ocean with His tusks. The demon Hiryanyaksa had thrown the planet earth into this ocean, but the Lord stabbed the demon with His tusks and saved the earth.

After describing the appearance of the white Boar Incarnation that had appeared during the Svayambhuva devastation, Maitreya next described the red Boar Incarnation that had appeared during the Chakshusha devastation. Maitreya related these pastimes to Vidura in the same manner in which he had heard them long ago when Lord Brahma had narrated them to the demigods.

Once upon a time, at sunset, Kashyapa, the son of Marichi, was offering oblations to Lord Vishnu into the sacrificial fire. At this time, his wife, Diti, approached him due to being greatly afflicted by sex desire. Without trying to attract him gradually by her bodily expressions, the beautiful Diti frankly begged her husband, "O learned one, Cup

"I CAME HERE TO TAKE THEIR SUFFERING", SAID PRABHUPADA

It was the beginning of 1977. Prabhupada was in Bombay temple. He was very sick. He had stopped all food intake – he was taking 1/4 a cup of orange juice per day. His body had only bones left – there was no flesh. And yet, he was insisting that he wanted to go to London. The doctors had given up responsibility. But as always, he was adamant.

At this time, one Pancaratrika Pandit from Bangalore named Sampat Kumar Bhattacarya came to know about Srila Prabhupada’s situation. So, he took a flight from Bangalore to Bombay – which in those days was a huge thing for a Brahmin priest – and met Prabhupada, and asked for a private meeting. Generally, nobody was allowed a private meeting, but when he said that he specially came by flight from Bangalore to meet Srila Prabhupada, he was allowed a private meeting.

So, everybody was asked to go out, and they talked. The conversation was like this:

Sampat Kumar: ‘Swamiji, I am feeling very pai

Ramanujacharya

Ramanujacharya.

When the religion of the Vedas became weakened due to the influence of less intelligent men who blindly performed ritualistic ceremonies and wantonly killed animals in the name of Vedic injunctions, Buddha appeared on the scene as a great reformer. Totally rejecting the Vedic literature and substituting his rational, atheistic views, Buddha advocated the path of ahimsa, (nonviolence and nirvana-the negation of reality as we know it) as the ultimate goal of life. Soon after, the philosophy of Shankaracharya overpowered Buddhism and spread throughout India.

The authority of the Upanishads and other Vedic literature were revived by Shankara and employed as weapons to fight the Buddhist doctrine. Interpreting the Vedas to draw a particular conclusion, Shankara established the doctrine of non-dualism, adwaita-vedanta, stating that all living entities were on an equal level with God. He prominently stressed those texts which afforded an answer to the rationalistic atheism
