Millions of years ago, the great universe-conquering demonic King Hiran Yaksha engaged in drilling and extracting oil and Earth's resources. As a result, the Earth's natural orbital balance was disturbed, casting the planet into lower dimensional systems.

Seeing this, the great Demigods and Patriots went to visit the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Who agreed to help them. He appeared as the "son" of one brahmana, and soon grew into a gigantic size many times the size of Earth, in the form of a Divine Red Boar, and with His tusks, he rescued Earth and placed it back in natural orbit.

Hiran Yaksha was enraged! Drawing his weapons, he immediatelyt flew at the Lord. The fight between Hiranyaksha and Varaha the Red Boar was massively historical, remembered to this day. Martial might went on for a long time, viscious and hard, but in due course, Varaha caste His chakra weapon, and severed the head of the great demon leader.

[Dear Readers,
Please accept our humble obeisances. All glories to Sri Sri Guru and Gauranga.
July 30, 2022 is the commemoration of the divine Ratha Yatra festival. Please accept this lecture excerpted from Srila Narayana Gosvami Maharaja’s book, The Origin of Ratha-yatra, chapter 5.
Your aspiring servants,
The hari-katha team]

Mahaprabhu’s mood at Ratha-yatra

At the beginning of the Ratha-yatra Festival, Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu offers a prayer to Jagannatha-deva, not to His form as Lord Jagannatha or Vasudeva-Krsna, but to His form as Vrajendra-nandana Sri Krsna:

jayati jana-nivaso devaki-janma-vado
yadu-vara-parisat svair dorbhir asyann adharmam
sthira-cara-vrjina-ghnah su-smita-sri-mukhena

Srimad-Bhagavatam (10.90.48)

[“Sri Krsna is He who is known as jana-nivasa, the ultimate resort of all living entities, and who is also known as Devaki-nandana or Yasoda-nandana, the son of Devaki and Yasoda. He is the guide of the Yadu dynasty, and wi

Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura

From a class given in Hindi and English in Mathurā on 19th April, 2000
by Śrī Śrīmad Bhaktivedānta Nārāyaṇa Gosvāmī Mahārāja

Translated into English for the first time

Śrīla Gurudeva [Hindi]: It is a very difficult subject matter. By means of the mind, one thinks of a woman; by means of the mind, we make enmity with someone; by means of the mind, sometimes we speak truth and sometimes a lie. In our current state, all the activities we do, we do by means of the mind, so when we listen to Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa’s pastimes, we think that we are hearing by means of the mind [meaning, we think we can hear and understand

Sri Sri Gaura-Gadadhara

[The following are two excerpts from lectures by Srila Gurudeva, Sri Srimad Bhaktivedanta Narayana Gosvami Maharaja, about Srila Gadadhara Pandita Prabhu. We are submitting these excerpts because on June 28, 2022 we will all observe Sri Gadadhara Pandita Prabhu's divine appearance day. The first excerpt is from Srila Gurudeva’s lecture in Los Angeles on May 30, 2000. In this lecture, he glorifies our Srila Prabhupada Bhaktivedanta Swami Maharaja in his relationship with Sri Gadadhara Pandita Prabhu.]

Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Maharaja came to this world with the mission of Iskcon – Vaisnavism. What was that? It is the same mission as Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. And who is Mahaprabhu? He is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Lord Sri Krsna Himself. But He is also more than that; He is not only Krsna. He is the combination of both Srimati Radhika and Krsna. Sri Krsna has combined wit

DISAPPEARANCE DAY OF SRIVASA PANDIT

[June 23, 2022 is the disappearance day of Srivas Pandit. Please accept this lecture given by Srila Narayana Gosvami Maharaja from England, given July 8, 1999:]

First of all, I want to give my heartly blessings to Gopi-vallabha prabhu, Citra, Visakha, Madana-mohana prabhu, and all those who are making this very beautiful arrangement for hari-katha – with a very big pandal and facilities for all the devotees.

There may be some lacking here, but I think that you do not care about that. We have not come here for facilities. We have come to hear hari-katha; the pastimes of Krsna, Caitanya Mahaprabhu, and Their associates. There may be some lacking, as there is in our Navadvipa parikrama, where more than 20,000 pilgrims gather, and where you can see only an ocean of heads. There may be so many things lacking there; so many pilgrims being hosted under trees; even without trees

Symptoms of Ecstatic Love

The bodily symptoms which are manifested by a devotee in expressing ecstatic love for Kṛṣṇa are called anubhāva. Practical examples of anubhāva are as follows: dancing, rolling on the ground, singing very loudly, stretching the body, crying loudly, yawning, breathing very heavily, neglecting the presence of others, drooling, laughing like a madman, wheeling the head and belching. When there is an extraordinary excess of ecstatic love, with all of these bodily symptoms manifested, one feels relieved transcendentally.

These symptoms are divided into two parts: one is called śīta, and the other is called kṣepaṇa. When there is yawning, it is called śīta, and when there is dancing it is called kṣepaṇa.

Dancing

While watching the rāsa dance performed by Lord Kṛṣṇa and the gopīs, Lord Śiva beheld the beautiful face of Kṛṣṇa and immediately began to dance and beat upon his small ḍiṇḍima drum. While Lord Śiva was dancing in ecstasy, his eldest son, Ganeśa, joi

Devas and Asuras Churning the Ocean of Milk

"There are two classes of human beings, namely the envious and the obedient. Since the Supreme Lord is one and the father of all living beings, the envious living beings are also His sons, but they are known as the asuras. But the living beings who are obedient to the supreme father are called devatas, or demigods, because they are not contaminated by the material conception of life. Not only are the asuras envious of the Lord in even denying the existence of the Lord, but they are also envious of all other living beings. The predominance of asuras in the world is occasionally rectified by the Lord when He eliminates them from the world and establishes a rule of devatas like the Pandavas. His designation as kala in disguise is significant. He is not at all dangerous, but He is the transcendental form of eternity, knowledge and bliss. For the devotees His factual form is disclosed, and for the nondevotees He appears like kala-rup

Unalloyed Theism

by Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura Prabhupāda

Among all the sentient entities who interact with this phenomenal world, man holds the supreme position, and he entertains the hope of remaining in such a position into the future, even after the transmutation of his present tabernacle. The quality of rationality is associated with man, who harbours the hope that, as much as possible, he may use his faculty of discrimination in the most appropriate fashion.

We know we are dependent upon other rational entities for our own rational activities to find real display. Such dependence is an inseparable element of our being. Yet, in spite of that, our ego ceaselessly tries to dispel all the discomforts of the mundane atmosphere by compelling us to exercise some intrinsic power of our own.

We are all endowed with material senses, and these have no other predilection than to secure felicities in every transaction. Indeed, when

Kanistha, Madhyama, Uttama"

72/12/13 Ahmedabad, Bhagavad-gita 7.1

Prabhupada:

sri-bhagavan uvaca
mayy asakta-manah partha
yogam yunjan mad-asrayah
asamsayam samagram mam
yatha jnasyasi tac chrnu
[Bg. 7.1]

So by the end of the Sixth Chapter, Krsna has explained the asta, astanga-yoga-siddhi. Astanga-yoga-siddhi, that yoginam api sarvesam mad-gatenantar-atmana [Bg. 6.47]. Always who is thinking of Krsna within himself, sraddhavan, with faith and knowledge, he is first-class yogi. So how this first-class yoga system helps me? Because the other yoga systems, they will disagree, that "Simply by thinking of Krsna within one's heart, how one becomes perfect?" That is explained from the Seventh Chapter of Bhagavad-gita, how simply by understanding Krsna, you become well aware of everything, this yoga system. In the Vedas also it is stated, kasmin tu bhagavo vijnate sarvam idam vijnatam bhavati. If you, if you simply understand Krsna, then you know everything. Krsna is the root of everything. Therefo

Chapter 16, Verse 1-3

The Blessed Lord said: Fearlessness, purification of one's existence, cultivation of spiritual knowledge, charity, self-control, performance of sacrifice, study of the Vedas, austerity and simplicity; nonviolence, truthfulness, freedom from anger; renunciation, tranquility, aversion to faultfinding, compassion and freedom from covetousness; gentleness, modesty and steady determination; vigor, forgiveness, fortitude, cleanliness, freedom from envy and the passion for honor-these transcendental qualities, O son of Bharata, belong to godly men endowed with divine nature.

Arrogance, pride, anger, conceit, harshness and ignorance-these qualities belong to those of demonic nature, O son of Prtha.

"Vamsidas Babaji never locked the door of his kuti when he went out for bhiksa or to bathe in the Ganga. If someone asked him why he did not lock the kuti, he said, “If the owner of the house Himself does not keep a watch and has a soft corner for the thief, what is the use of locking the house? I do not even keep the keys of the lock with me. The lock has three keys. All the three are with the three boys. One is with Gaura, one with Nitai and one with Gadadhara.”

After entrusting the lock and the keys to the three boys, Baba used to be free from anxiety. If while he was out a cow entered the kuti and turned everything topsy turvy, he would be angry with the boys. If some one stole something from the kuti he would say, “Gaura has a soft corner for Nadiyavasis, the residents of His own Dhama. Therefore He gives things away to them. I am after all an outsider.” Once a gold necklace, given by someone to Gaura, was stolen, when he had gone out for bhiksa. On returning to the kuti he kep

Srila Gour Govinda Swami Lila

Today we are observing the disappearance of His Holiness Srila Gour Govinda
Swami Maharaj. And my dear friend Madhavananda Prabhu has given me some of
the manuscript of an incredibly outstanding book that he is compiling. I
would like to share some excerpts beginning with the parallels of Dhruva
Maharaj and Gour Govinda Maharaj.10136136488?profile=RESIZE_180x180

Gour Govinda Maharaj was also from a very early time in his childhood
inspired by his mother to worship the Deity of Gopal and here at Sri Mayapur
Dhama like Dhruva Maharaj with a photo of Gopal in his hand surrounded by
devotees doing kirtana he entered into the ultimate trance and went back to
the spiritual world. He was born on Sept 2nd 1929 near Orissa in a village
called Jagannatha-pura. He was named Braja-bandhu. His family was very, very
serious devotees coming from the very old tradition of Gaudiya Vasinavaism.
His mother from a village of Gadeigiri worshipped for all her life the Deity
of Gopal Jui. That deity was worshipped in her family for over thr

"So in politics this is nonsense, non-violence. It is nonsense, cowardism. In politics in sweet words you cannot get. There must be fight, arms. That is army. 'If you don't agree, then fist.' That is politics. There must be violence. Otherwise you cannot control. When there is educated good men, then you can argue. But when people are ruffians, there is no question of good..."

Abnormalcy of the DemonicsTamohara dasa acbssp, MS.
Posted by Editor/TP/ritvik on January 11, 2022 at 20:57 in News and World Events (Change)

"Living entities seperated from Krsna/God, either by too much genetic change to His design, or too much ego-desire to play at being God, both cannot enter normalcy or God's Kingdom. Tortured in deviated genetically altered mundane material bodies, the rebels suffer, just as souls who refuse God's Kingdom due to childish selfishness or sense of wild adventure, and fall to Earth or other mundane worlds, suffer spiritual loss, a loss of true nature and eternal blissful life.
Ever after, the seperatists simply try to recover from their losses, but it is not possible, because we are by nature eternal servitors of Krsna, and when we lose that precious nature, we suffer. Both an excessively altered body and selfishly altered ego, are in a rejected status, seperated from God. Those in such statuses often feel resentment towards the pure, even wage war aga

1. Tdasa ;  We consider ourselves simply the modern followers of HDG A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupad, as he taught and set the perfect examples. There is no such thing as "ritvik philosophy", per se,  as we are simply following Prabhupada's philosophy.

Srila Prabhupada said;
"Simply work cooperatively for spreading this movement all over the world. The standards I have already given you, now try to maintain them at all times under standard procedure. Do not try to innovate or create anything or manufacture anything, that will ruin everything. Simply do as I am doing and be always serious and sincere to serve Krsna, and He will give you intelligence how to do everything."
Letter to Bali Mardan & Pusta Krsna, September18, 1972

Srila Prabhupada ;

" From now on unless I order you do something change or in addition, go on with the usual standard way. "

"Kṛṣṇa consciousness does not meant to be one-sided. Kṛṣṇa is all-pervading, the Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement also should be all-perv

What Śrīman Mahāprabhu Gave Is the Highest Benefaction

by Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura Prabhupāda

(Translated into English for the first time)

Question 1: How will we attain service to Śrī Bhagavān?

Answer: The day we realize that śrī gurudeva – who is sevā-vigraha, the embodiment of service – is non-different from Śrī Caitanyadeva, we will obtain service to Śrī Gaurasundara. On that day we will obtain the fortune of performing confidential service to Śrī Śrī Rādhā-Govinda. Only when we realize that the mahānta-gurudeva, or foremost of Vaiṣṇavas performing the function of guru, is a direct personal associate of Śrī Kṛṣṇa Caitanyadeva, will the transcendental pastimes of Śrī Śrī Rādhā-Govinda manifest in our pure and spotless hearts.

Question 2: How will we understand the subject matter of Vaiṣṇava philosophy?

Answer: A person may be a great scholar or a great thinker, but until he accepts the shelter of an ācārya, whose character is the very emb

Srila Prabhupada has told us:

"Machines mean unemployment for the many. The tractor they're using means unemployment for bulls and plowmen. Then the bulls must be killed. This is going on. Unemployment, then kill them. Send all the men to fight in Vietnam and kill them. As soon as there is overpopulation of unemployed, they declare war so that people may be killed."
(Morning Walk, Mayapur, February 12, 1976)

So these wars are not right wars, righteous wars. No. They are play of the diplomats, politicians--they engage. When they cannot manage things very nicely, they engage people into war. That's all. Divert the attention. But war is not meant for that.

[Bhagavad-gita Lecture 2.32 London, September 2, 1973]

"The Krishna Consciousness movement can solve all the problems of life, all the problems in the world. Social, political, philosophical, religious, economic—everything can be solved by Krishna consciousness. It is very scientific and authorized. It is not a mental concoction or a se

Ganguli /Prabhupada

Devotee:
In the early '80s, in Bangalore, I was required to make at  least two Life Members a month.

I was a bad Life Membership maker and  one month I had only ten days left. I was looking in the telephone  directory for Bengali names and I found a 'Ganguly.' I called and said,  "I'm speaking from the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. I  want to come and see you today."

Mr. Ganguly sounded positive. He said,  "Oh, you are from the Hare Krishna Movement?
Please see me at eleven  o'clock."
I took the membership form, a small set of books, a  poster and so on, and I went to see him. To my surprise, I
found that  his was a huge place, almost equal to the aeronautical engineering place  in Bangalore. I lost hope - there was no way this man was going to  become a member.

I went to one secretary, then another, then another,  and when my appointment time came, I was still with secretaries. Ganguly  was the top man. I thought, "Since I came all this way, I should see  him."
