Mahaprabhu’s mood at Ratha-yatra
 
At the beginning of the Ratha-yatra Festival, Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu offers a prayer to Jagannatha-deva, not to His form as Lord Jagannatha or Vasudeva-Krsna, but to His form as Vrajendra-nandana Sri Krsna:

[The following are two excerpts from lectures by Srila Gurudeva, Sri Srimad Bhaktivedanta Narayana Gosvami Maharaja, about Srila Gadadhara Pandita Prabhu. We are submitting these excerpts because on June 28, 2022 we will all observe Sri Gadadhara Pandita Prabhu's divine appearance day. The first excerpt is from Srila Gurudeva’s lecture in Los Angeles on May 30, 2000. "There are two classes of human beings, namely the envious and the obedient. Since the Supreme Lord is one and the father of all living beings, the envious living beings are also His sons, but they are known as the asuras. But the living beings who are obedient to the supreme father are called devatas, or demigods, because they are not contaminated by the material conception of life. Not only are the asuras envious of the Lord in even denying the existence of the Lord, but they are also envious of all other living beings. The predominance of asuras in the world is occasionally rectified by the Lord when He eliminates them from the world and establishes a rule of devatas like the Pandavas. His designation as kala in disguise is significant. He is not at all dangerous, but He is the transcendental form of eternity, knowledge and bliss. Chapter 16, Verse 1-3

The Blessed Lord said: Fearlessness, purification of one's existence, cultivation of spiritual knowledge, charity, self-control, performance of sacrifice, study of the Vedas, austerity and simplicity; nonviolence, truthfulness, freedom from anger; renunciation, tranquility, aversion to faultfinding, compassion and freedom from covetousness; gentleness, modesty and steady determination; vigor, forgiveness, fortitude, cleanliness, freedom from envy and the passion for honor-these transcendental qualities, O son of Bharata, belong to godly men endowed with divine nature.

Chapter 16, Verse 4

Arrogance, pride, anger, conceit, harshness and ignorance-these qualities belong to those of demonic nature, O son of Prtha.

The transcendental qualities are conducive to liberation, whereas the demonic qualities make for bondage. Do not worry, O son of Pandu, for you are born with the divine qualities.

Today we are observing the disappearance of His Holiness Srila Gour Govinda
Swami Maharaj. And my dear friend Madhavananda Prabhu has given me some of
the manuscript of an incredibly outstanding book that he is compiling. I
would like to share some excerpts beginning with the parallels of Dhruva
Maharaj and Gour Govinda Maharaj.

Gour Govinda Maharaj was also from a very early time in his childhood
inspired by his mother to worship the Deity of Gopal and here at Sri Mayapur
Dhama like Dhruva Maharaj with a photo of Gopal in his hand surrounded by

"Living entities seperated from Krsna/God, either by too much genetic change to His design, or too much ego-desire to play at being God, both cannot enter normalcy or God's Kingdom. So these wars are not right wars, righteous wars. No. They are play of the diplomats, politicians--they engage. When they cannot manage things very nicely, they engage people into war. That's all. Divert the attention. But war is not meant for that.

In the early '80s, in Bangalore, I was required to make at  least two Life Members a month.

 I was a bad Life Membership maker and  one month I had only ten days left. I was looking in the telephone  directory for Bengali names and I found a 'Ganguly.' I called and said,  "I'm speaking from the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. I  want to come and see you today."

 Mr. Ganguly sounded positive. He said,  "Oh, you are from the Hare Krishna Movement?
Please see me at eleven  o'clock."
I took the membership form, a small set of books, a  poster and so on, and I went to see him. To my surprise, I
 found that  his was a huge place, almost equal to the aeronautical engineering place  in Bangalore. I lost hope - there was no way this man was going to  become a member.

I went to one secretary, then another, then another,  and when my appointment time came, I was still with secretaries. Ganguly  was the top man. I thought, "Since I came all this way, I should see  him."
