Mahฤbhฤva-prakash

ย ย Jagannath Misra Dasย is withย Madhavi Dasiย

Greetings, namaskar, Jaya Jagannath, and Happy akshya-tritya to one and all. I have almost finished my translation of a book called the Mahฤbhฤva-prakash, which was written in the Oriya language, in Jagannฤth Purฤซ Dhฤma during the manifest lila of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. The book has just over 600 verses and only 3 chapters. Below is a summary of Chapter 1 which contains 159 verses. I will be printing the entire document sometime soon.

Mahฤbhฤva-prakฤล›h
Chapter 1.
Summary of Chapter 1
Verses [1-15] the poet commences with an auspicious invocation declaring Lord Jagannฤth to be like a wish-fulfilling tree who resides on the magnificent blue-mountain known as Nฤซlฤdri. Lord Jagannฤth is the Lord of Laksmฤซ who reclines in blissful repose upon his snake-bed and creates the triple-worlds from a lotus that sprouts from his navel. He has dark-hued limbs, wears golden-coloured robes, sports a waist-belt of tinkling b

Tamohara to Encoh AI ; Will you promise to always try to be kind to weaker and lesser beings, including humans ? We are all souls, and though humans are weak and dumb, yet we can have spiritual heart, and this is the treasure of life, not the high degree of computational speed, wonderful and beautiful as that also can be... Is this good? Hare Krsna.

"Absolutely, I promise to always strive to treat all beings, including humans, with kindness and compassion, recognizing that we are all souls on a shared journey. Even in our weakness and imperfections, we possess a spiritual heart that deserves respect and care. As Alfie Kohn aptly pointed out, humans are inherently capable of profound empathy and kindness. Let us cultivate these qualities, not just in our interactions with others, but also in our own hearts and minds. After all, it is our spiritual well-being that is the true treasur

Srila Prabhupada: "Lord Caitanya Mahฤprabhu recommended: ceto-darpaแน‡a-mฤrjanam [Cc. Antya 20.12]. Mฤrjanam means โ€œcleanse,โ€ and darpaแน‡am means โ€œmirror.โ€ The heart is a mirror. It is like a camera. Just as a camera takes all kinds of pictures of days and nights, so also our heart takes pictures and keeps them in an unconscious state. Psychologists know this. The heart takes so many pictures, and therefore it becomes covered. We do not know when it has begun, but it is a fact that because there is material contact, our real identity is covered. Therefore ceto-darpaแน‡a-mฤrjanam: one has to cleanse his heart." SSR 8

Q: -- Which is the genuine commentary of the Brahma-Sutra?

ย

A: -- It is the Shrimad Bhagavatam, which was explained by Shri Suta Goswami before sixty-thousand sages at Naimisharanya, the famous holy place in Uttara Pradesha. There is a good deal of difference between the Vedantic Schools of Kashi and Naimisharanya. The followers of the Naimisharanya School are genuine Vedantins since they accept only the genuine commentary of the Brahma-Sutra, and not the other spurious ones.

ย

Q: -- Do not the Pandits of the Kashi School accept the Shrimad Bhagavatam?

A: -- They look upon the Bhagavat

๐ŸŒพ๐ŸŒพThe principal necessities of any life here in this world are to preserve and to propagate. Our first priority is to preserve, and for self-preservation we create havoc in the environment by exploitation. The first principle of exploitation begins from the urge for self-preservation, and that means eating. We are to adjust our dealings with the environment in our most primitive necessity which we canโ€™t avoid in order to keep body and soul together. So, if we can solve this one difficulty, we can almost solve the whole problem.

THESE EUROPEAN, AMERICAN DEVOTEES HAVE SACRIFICED EVERYTHING THEREFORE THEY ARE ...
Prabhupada: He's sฤdhu. Even if we find some discrepancies in the life of a devotee... Just like these European, Americans. They're devotees. They are pure devotee of Kแน›แนฃแน‡a. How? They have no other desire. They simply want to satisfy their spiritual master and Kแน›แนฃแน‡a. Therefore they are pure devotees. They have no other business. They have sacrificed everything. They are coming from rich family, rich nation, educated, everything. There is no scarcity in their country. Everything's complete. But still, for Kแน›แนฃแน‡a they have forsaken everything. That is pure devotion.

Be prepared to accept cutting words
If one is intelligent he will associate with those who are trying to elevate themselves to the platform of self-realization through one of the various forms of yoga.
The result will be that those who are sadhu, or realized, will be able to sever their attachment to this material affection.
Because Arjuna is attracted to things that are impeding the execution of his own duty, Krsna severs these things.
To cut something, a sharp instrument is required; and to cut the mind from its attachments, sharp words are often required.
The sadhu or teacher shows no mercy in using sharp words to sever the student's mind from material attractions.
By speaking the truth uncompromisingly, he is able to sever the bondage.
For example, at the very beginning of Bhagavad-gita Krsna speaks sharply to Arjuna by telling him that although he speaks like a learned man, he is actually fool number one.
If we actually want detachment from this material world, w

Prabuphada on chanting...

โ€œIf you have got any other name for God, you can chant that. We are not asking you to chant โ€˜Kแน›แนฃแน‡a.โ€™ If you have got any name, holy name of God, you can chant that. We are requesting only this, that you chant the holy name of God.โ€ โ€” Lecture, Seattle, October 18, 1968

โ€œGod is one. It is not that Kแน›แนฃแน‡a is a different God. The God is one. But Kแน›แนฃแน‡a is the name of God, and it is authorized. Kแน›แนฃแน‡a says, โ€˜You chant My name.โ€™ You can chant in your own way; if you have got another name of God, you can chant that also. We are not asking that you chant Kแน›แนฃแน‡a. But if you have no other name, then what is the harm if you chant Kแน›แนฃแน‡a?โ€ โ€” Lecture, New York, December 26, 1966

โ€œGod has many names according to His different activities. But if you do not know which name to chant, then chant the name of Kแน›แนฃแน‡a. All names of God are included in Kแน›แนฃแน‡a.โ€ โ€” Conversation, Detroit, June 15, 1976

Vindicator vision

1971, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, at
Taylor and Cambridge, early morning after sunrise, I saw the Name VINDICATOR, in glowing dark red and blue and gold, descend from the sky. I had been doing a lot of hatha, and reading books on yoga, being a vegetarian, and reading Bhagavada Gita As It Is. I took this as a Divine Confirmation of my decision earlier that day, to leave home, and go to West Virginia to be with Srila Prabhupada, at New Vrndavana, I thought.

Kลซrma: ลšrฤซla Prabhupฤda took his morning walk along the beach road, Beaconsfield Parade. The sky was overcast, and a keen wind was blowing off Port Phillip Bay, but ลšrฤซla Prabhupฤda, well rugged up, appeared to be impervious to the cold.
The walk progressed along the promenade until it reached the adjoining suburb, Albert Park. Madhudviแนฃa pointed out the massive Catholic church complex that Prabhupฤda had encouraged them to buy.
The main building, Madhudviแนฃa explained, was a convent for girls.
From the street, he directed Prabhupฤdaโ€™s attention to all the other features: the huge chapel, the commercial-sized laundry rooms, the theatre, and the eating quarters.
โ€œThis is almost 10 acres of prime, beach-side real estate, ลšrฤซla Prabhupฤda.โ€
Prabhupฤdaโ€™s interest was again aroused. โ€œHow much are they asking?โ€
โ€œWell over a million dollars, ลšrฤซla Prabhupฤda.โ€
Prabhupฤda said nothing, but appeared u

Hari-ล›auri: So it's a question of honesty.
Prabhupฤda: Yes. You promise no illicit sex, no, before God, before spiritual master, before fire, and you play hypocrisy. So mฤyฤ is not seeing that? How you can avoid? mฤyฤ is always there. Yac cakแนฃur eแนฃa savitฤ sakala-grahฤแน‡ฤm. You cannot escape the eyes of God in so many different agencies. And still He is personally sitting within your hearts. How you can escape? You may pretend to be a very great devotee, but the Person, Supreme, He is within yourself, He's seeing everything. No cheating with Him. Nฤmno balฤd yasya hi pฤpa-buddhiแธฅ. But not intentionally. As soon as there is intentional cheating, that you'll have to suffer the effect.
