Pandava Nirjala Ekadasi

Pandava Nirjala Ekadasi

Nirjala Ekadasi, observed June 19th, From the Brahma-vaivarta Purana.

During the hottest season (northern hemisphere), if one can perform upavasa without water one is performing a great feat. One may take only charanamrta and achamana water. Bhima the mighty warrior of the Pandava dynasty requested one vrata day by which he could obtain the fruits of all the other days of vrata that he was incapable of observing. Vyasadeva advised him to follow this difficult vrata. One should worship the Lord in the evening by bathing him in milk. On the dvadasi one should give full pots of water to brahmanas and feed them before breaking one's fast.

SAMVATSARASYA YA MADHYE EKADASYO BHAVANTI HI TASAM PHALAM AVAPNOTI PUTRA ME NA ATRA SAMSAYAH ITI MAM KESAVAH PRAHA SANKHA CAKRA GADADHARAH

(HARI BHAKTI VILASA 15/25 from PADMA PURANA Vyasadeva speaks to Bhimasena)

Oh son, Lord Keshava, Who holds the club, disk, conch and lotus flower in His hand, personally told me that a

There is no need by any of my disciples to read any books besides my books--in fact, such reading may be detrimental to their advancement in Krishna Consciousness. All reading of outside books, except in certain authorized cases such as for example to read some philosopher like Plato to make an essay comparing his philosophy with Krishna's philosophy--but otherwise all such outside reading should be stopped immediately. It is simply another botheration. If my students cannot even read my own books thoroughly, why they should read others? I have given you TLC, what need is there to read Caitanya Caritamrta translated by someone else. You are right to stop such reading.

Lord Shri Chaitanya, His welfare activities (and His Teachings)

The positive life and happiness is the real reality that we want. Without such positive knowledge, we are apt to utilise this present temporary life for all sorts of material happiness in terms of the philosophy of Charbaka. Charbaka did not believe in the eternity of life. He believed in Hedonism and therefore recommended an irresponsible life of eat, drink, merry and enjoy. He advised there is nothing after death ? And Buddha and Shankara advised there is practically voidness after death. Voidness is another name of nothingness. People therefore took up the idea of nothingness after death and they clinged to the everything of this present world. To save them from such hopelessness of Voidness and nothing after death, the message of Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu has to be propagated all over the world. Lord Jesus Christ also promised kingdom of heaven and the fatherhood of

.

Regarding the Gaudiya Math books being circulated there, who is distributing? Who is sending these books? The Gaudiya Math does not sell our books, why we should sell their books. Who has introduced these books? Let me know. These books should not at all be circulated in our Society. Bhakti Vilas Tirtha is very much antagonistic to our society and he has no clear conception of devotional service. He is contaminated. Anyway, who has introduced these books? You say that you would read only one book if that was all that I had written, so you teach others to do like that. You have very good determination.     [Srila Prabhupada Letter to Sukadeva, 14 November, 1973)

The Lord Will Never Leave the Heart of His Devotee
Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 4.31.20;
apahata-sakalaiṣaṇāmalātmany aviratam edhita-bhāvanopahūtaḥ
nija-jana-vaśa-gatvam ātmano ’yan na sarati chidravad akṣaraḥ satāṁ hi
Being completely cleansed of all material desires, the devotees are freed from all mental contamination. Thus they can always think of the Lord constantly and address Him very feelingly. The Supreme Personality of Godhead, knowing Himself to be controlled by His devotees, does not leave them for a second, just as the sky overhead never becomes invisible.
(partial purport) “The pure devotee is always absorbed in the thought of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. As stated, śṛṇvatāṁ sva-kathāḥ kṛṣṇaḥ [SB 1.2.17]. By always thinking of Kṛṣṇa, the pure devotee’s heart is freed from all kinds of desires. In the material world, the heart of the living entity is filled with material desires. When the living entity is cleansed, he does not think of anything material.

WHAT IS YOUR CONSTITUTIONAL
RASA WITH THE LORD?

HERE IS AN INDICATION.

Special natural appreciation of the descriptions of a particular pastime of Godhead indicates the constitutional position of a living entity. Adoration, servitorship, friendship, parental affection and conjugal love are the five primary relationships with Krsna. The highest perfectional stage of the conjugal relationship, enriched by many sentiments, gives the maximum relishable mellow to the devotee

[Sri Caitanya Caritamrta Adi Lila 4-34]

Note: So if we have a special natural appreciation of the descriptions of a particular pastime of the Lord from Srila Prabhupada's original authorized books; for example if we like to hear about Krishna's pastimes with his cowherd boyfriends or His pastimes as Gopal with Mother Yasoda this would indicate our constitutional rasa with the Lord.

Montreal 12th June, 1968
My Dear Subala,

Please accept my blessings. I am in due receipt of your letter of June 10th, 1968, and noted the contents carefully. Yes, you can have the band play there in the temple as you are in great need of money to carry on there. When we are in need of money to carry on Krishna's work, then we can resort to whatever means there is available. So long it is always for Krishna and never for personal sense gratification. So you can try to get some money in that way.

You can observe Rathayatra Festival there on 27th june. Hope you are well.
Your ever well-wisher,
ACB

India

My Dear Ramesvara,

Please accept my blessings. I beg to acknowledge receipt of your letter dated December 27, 1972, and with great happiness I have read your figures of amount of books sold during three-day period, December 22-24, 1972. It is scarcely believable that more than 17,100 books could have been sold by one temple in three days! That indicates to me that people are at last becoming little serious about this Krsna Consciousness movement in your country. Otherwise, why they should buy our books? But they can see that our boys and girls, devotees, are so much sincere and serious to distribute the message of Krsna consciousness, they are at once struck by seeing them and therefore they appreciate and purchase. This is unique in the world. Perhaps we are the only sincere persons on this whole planet. At least our books are not to be seen anywhere else.

So I am so much pleased upon all of the boys and girls in Los Angeles and all ov

No Book Changes --- Ramesvara Dasa, Interview, 1979

9 DIRECT QUOTES FROM SRILA PRABHUPADA TO RAMESVARA PRABHU FORBIDDING BOOK CHANGES, AS SHARED IN RAMESVARA'S 300 PG 1979 INTERVIEW, viewable at the following link: http://www.govindadasi.com/ramesvara-das-interview-1979.html

"And also at that Mayapur meeting of 1976 we had had meetings with Prabhupada about the Bhagavatam. We prepared for that Mayapur festival a color board which showed all the volumes of the Bhagavatam drawn in for each Canto what the color would be, and Srila Prabhupada approved the color scheme for the Srimad-Bhagavatam for all the reprints. But he warned us emphatically that this must be the very, very last change that is ever to be made in the Srimad-Bhagavatam." (Ramesvara Dasa, Interview, 1979)

"Prabhupada at that time approved the new design for the Krsna Book trilogy, and then he approved the standardization in terms of lettering and so on for the Bhagavatams, and he approved the new color board. That is wh

The proprietor of the garden takes you to show you. And if you say, "Oh, it is all mithyā," then how much depressed he becomes, just see. "I brought this friend to show the beauty of this garden, and he says it is mithyā." Similarly, we won't want to depress Kṛṣṇa. [laughter] That is not our business. Kṛṣṇa has created this nice world. The mother of Srila Vrindavana dasa Thakura's was Sri Narayanidevi, the niece of Srivasa pandita. In his Sri Caitanya Bhagavata,Vrndavana dasa has described how his mother attained theaffectionate fervour of Sri Gaurasundara.

"Narayani devi received the entire remnants of Mahaprabhu'smeal. Though she was only an insensible child he bestowed His mercyon her in this way."

Also as a result of this mercy, Srila Vrindavana dasa Thakura, whose life and soul was Sri Gaura-Nityananda, took his birth fromher womb.

He hasn't mentioned the name of his father. It is believedthat Narayani devi was married to someone at Kumarhatta. However, while she was still carrying the child in her womb, she waswidowed. Being reduced to a condition of poverty by the loss of herhusband, she finally accepted shelter in the house of Sri VasudevaDatta Thakura, at Mamgachi, where she helped with the housework. Here Vrindavana dasa began his studies.

Visnujana Swami

June 2, 1948 was the birthday of one of ISKCON's first saints. Visnujana Swami was one of the first pioneers to help Srila Prabhupada spread the Sankirtan Movement all over America. He traveled all over America and to India chanting so nicely that he melted the hearts of thousands of fortunate souls.

Visnujana's devotion for the Holy Names and his Deities, Sri Sri Radha Damodar, was so deep that all those who came in contact with him could sense it and became enlivened. Even though he was so advanced in spiritual life he remained and became more humble. That is the real attractive feature of any advanced devotee.

Visnujana woke first and cooked the manala sweet performed Kirtan then bathed and dressed the Deities with great love and devotion. Once in awhile we got to see Radharani's lotus feet. This was because she was/is at the young age of Damodar. Otherwise Srimati Radharani's feet are never shown on the Deities.

If you can organize a Harinam Party in his ho
