VAMSIDAS BABAJI

vamsi_das.gifVamsidas Babaji was a Gaudiya Vaishnav sadhu who lived at Swarupa Gunj, Navadwip during the time of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur. He was respected by Srila Bhaktisiddhanta, and he used to see to it that Vamsidas Babaji was provided with grains and so on by Gaudiya Matha brahmacharis.

Srila Vamsidas Babaji appeared in the village of Majidpur in the Jamalpur district of Bangladesh. Before the partition of India, this city was formerly in the district of Mymensing. His father’s name was Sanatana Malobrahma and he was previously known as Bhairava. Babaji Maharaj came to Nabadwip from East Bengal.

He lived as a total recluse, far away from the hubbub of the town in a solitary place on the bank of Ganga near Baral Ghata in Navadvipa, as if he was a mad or crazy person. His only possessions were an old kaupina, karanga and kantha. Vamsidasa Babaji lived in a world of his own. His world centered round his deities-Gaura-Gadadhara, Nitai, Radha-Krishna and Gopala. For the service of his

Cows of Goloka

  9468770489?profile=original

From Brhad-bhagavatamrta…

Also: “Thus, O son of Kunti, in many different forms do I move about here on earth, on Brahmaloka, and in the eternal Goloka.” BB, 2.7.86

Sanatana Gosvami's commentary:

This verse is from a conversation between Sri Krsna and Arjuna found in the Skanda Purana. Before making this statement, Krsna spoke about several of His incarnations, including Lord Jagannatha in Purusottama-ksetra.

The Goloka in which Krsna appears is an eternal spiritual realm, but in the material world there is also another planet of cows. The Surabhi who visited Krsna on the earth after Krsna lifted Govardhana Hill was the mother of all cows in the material universe. She came from her residence on the material Goloka, in the Satyaloka planetary system, to perform the abhiseka of Krsna.

Being very pleased with Him for having saved her descendants in Mathura Gokula, Surabhi wanted to take part in the ceremony conducted by the demigods to officially recognize Krsna as indro gavam (“Govinda,

The illusory energy of Lord Vishnu

9468748482?profile=originalStory on Vishnumaya

Once Sri Narada Rishi, the great devotee of Narayana, went to Dvaraka to see Lord Krishna.

9468766661?profile=original

After talking for some time, they went out for a walk. During the course of the walk, they spoke about a lot of topics. At this juncture, Narada said to Vasudeva, "Narayana, Krishna, Govinda, Mahavishnoh, great sages speak of your shakthi called Vishnumaya, by which the whole universe is deluded into thinking of "I and mine" and by the operation of which there is forgetfulness of You. May I know, Vasudeva, what that Vishnumaya is, if you are pleased to reveal that to me, your servant's servant."

Recalling to His mind a similar request made by the sage Markandeya to Himself in the form of Nara-Narayana, Govinda said "Sure, you are my dear devotee. My devotees' desires will never be unfulfilled. I will fulfill your desire." Satisified with the reply of Madhusudhana, Narada continued the walk.

Having walked a long distance, they almost came to a suburb of Dvaraka. At this juncture, L

Atmanivedana

The following is a series of lectures given by HDG Srila Gour Govinda Swami on the topic of Atmanivedana - complete surrender. It consists of lectures on the 8th canto of Srimad-Bhagavatam, beginning from chapter 18. The verses are about how Vamanadev comes to Bali Maharaj to beg for three paces of land, and how the Lord in the end mercifully steals everything from him, leaving him with no choice but to surrender.
All lectures were recorded in Bhubaneswar, India beginning in September 1992.
Unfortunately, the audio for some lectures are missing.

Kamika ekadasi 2012

9468764899?profile=original

The saintly king Yudhisthira Maharaj said, "Oh Supreme Lord, I have heard from You the glories of fasting on Deva-sayani Ekadasi, which occurs during the light fortnight of the month of Ashadha. Now I would like to hear from You the glories of the Ekadasi that occurs during the dark fortnight (Krishna paksha) of the month of Shravana (July -August). Oh Govindadeva, please be merciful to me and explain its glories. Oh Supreme Vasudeva, I offer my most humble obeisances unto You."

The Supreme Lord, Shri Krishna, replied, "Oh King, please listen attentively as I describe the auspicious influence of this Holy fast (vrata) day, which removes all sins. Narada Muni once asked Lord Brahma about this same topic. ‘Oh regent of all beings,' said Naradji, ‘Oh you who sit upon a water born lotus throne, please tell me the names of the Ekadasi that occurs during the dark fortnight of the sacred month of Shravana. Please also tell me which Deity is to be worshipped on that Holy day, the process one

A holy man  was talking to God one day.
Priest; Sir, I want to know what is the nature of paradise and hell. (the kingdom of heaven, and evil)
In answer, the Lord presented two doors to the holy man;.
He opened one,  and they entered ... In the middle of the room was a large round table, and  in the middle there was a large pot, including a tasty vegetable stew. The Priest could smell the wonderful food, and became very hungry. The people who sat around the table were bone thin and pale as death. All were starving.
Each has a long-handled spoon in his hands. All of them reached the sabji in the bowl. But as the spoon handle was longer than their arms, they could not raise the spoon to their mouth !

The holy man shuddered miserably, seeing their suffering.
God then said  What in the hell did you see ?!
Then they both entered the second door. Opened it, and the sight revealed by God, was the same as the previous room. There was a large round table, a delicious pot of stew, which made the

9468741093?profile=original HDG Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Goswami Maharajah Thakura Prabhupada

This world is a perverted reflection of the original world, which is our real home. Instead of passing our time here, we want to go back to our eternal abode. We are now very busily engaged in pursuing pleasant sensations gained by our senses from phenomenal objects. We should make it a point to eradicate the root cause of this, which has brought us to this world of delusion, apparent pleasures, miseries and troubles. The mind is the root of all evils and the root of all pleasure-seeking inclinations. So the mind should be subjugated first; that is, it should not be allowed to take initiative in anything. Ordinarily the mind controls our senses and the soul is lying in a dormant condition. The soul has delegated its power of transacting with the external world to the mind, and the mind has five ministers to help in the administration of the phenomenal world. But the mind is a not a dutiful agent of the soul. It a

Sri Gopala Bhatta Goswami

Sri Gopala Bhatta Goswami was the son of Vyenkatta Bhatta, a brahmana resident of Sri Rangam, who was initiated in the Sri Sampradaya. The city of Sri Rangam is located on the Kaveri river in the district of Tanjor about ten miles west of Kumbhakonam.
Regarding this temple Sri Bhaktivedanta Swami remarks as follows. "The Sri Rangam temple is the largest in India, and there are seven walls surrounding it. There are also seven roads leading to Sri Rangam. The ancient names of these roads are Dharma, Rajamahendra, Kulashekhara, Alinadana, Tiruvikrama, Tirubidi and Ada-iyavala-indana. The temple was founded before the reign of Dharmavarma, who reigned before Rajamahendra. Many celebrated kings like Kulashekhara and others such as Alabandaru, resided in the temple of Sri Rangam. Yamunacharya, Sri Ramanuja, Sudarshanacharya, and others also supervise

Marcus Aurelius  - quote: People are born for each other. Or they teach, or they put up with them !

                          A flight of birds! 9468751466?profile=original

We see them flying over the sea,  but physically we can not fly with them. What we can do, is to look up to them with love and joy in our hearts for God's creation; to gaze in admiring wonder at what we see He has made for us, with us!  The wise old oral tradition of such love of God's created world, is one of the pillars of life here in Europe.

Human thoughts, words; they  build, and can also destroy. Human love is often misapplied, mal-practised, and may ruin lives .. For example: many people say that the physical and cultural distance from the other people repells people away from each other, but this is not true!  People decide whether they like or dislike. Whether they live in the distance, or in close proximity, does not actually affect the outpouring of love. God gave us the loving capacity, and it depends on us  to utilize it or not

Srila Sanatana Goswami

socyate nama-bhedena lavanga-maïjari budhaih
sadya gaurabhinna-tanuh sarvaradhyah sanatanah
tam eva pravishat karyan muni-ratnah sanatanah

Rati Manjari, who was previously very dear to Rupa Manjari and was also known by some wise persons as Lavanga Manjari, has become the worshipable Sanatana, who is non-different from Gaura himself. The jewel amongst sages, Sanatana Kumara, has also entered into him to fulfill a certain mission. (Gaura-ganoddesha-dipika 181)

Sanatana's life before meeting Mahaprabhu

According to the Gaudiya Vaishnava Abhidhana, Sanatana was born in around 1410 of the Shaka era (1488 AD). Narahari Chakravarti Thakur has described his ancestors in Bhakti-ratnakara (1.541ff) and Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Goswami Thakur has given a summary of this information in his Anubhashya to Chaitanya Charitamrita (1.10.84), which we have quoted in this book on page 12 in our discussion of the life of Rupa Goswami

Krsna's flute vibrates eight different tunes;

9468740662?profile=original

1. Demigods like Lord Brahma and Lord Siva break their meditation and forget everything when the first flute tune pierces their ears.9468740700?profile=original

2. The Yamuna river begins to flow backwards.

9468740899?profile=original

3. The moon stops moving.

9468742660?profile=original

4. Cows run to Krsna and stand motionless to hear.

9468744477?profile=original

5. The gopis come running to associate with Krsna.

 9468746667?profile=original

6. Autumn is created with rich foliage and blossoms and fruits, and stones melt.

9468747300?profile=original

7. All six seasons manifest with a southern breeze carrying sensuous and  wonderful fragrances of the aromatic forest flowers.

9468748080?profile=original

8. The eight note takes the form of the name of Radha, steals Her self control, and forcibly speeds Her to Her beloved Krsna. Overwhelmed by the flute's passionate whirlwind, Radharani paints mascara on Her lotus feet and red dye on Her eyes, fastens a necklace on Her waist, anklets on Her wrists, and she drapes Her blouse where Her dress should be!

Humanity's history book, a lot of bloody sheets and damned. Because people have not learned not to hurt others, it is not their own fault .9468737899?profile=original

An adage says, when life gives lemons, make lemonade. If your glass half full of water, rejoice and be happy. Do not worry, it is only half a glass of water. Still do not know each other's cup. This is a great truth! The wise man is humble, even violet. The violet hides from curious eyes, silently lurks at the back of the gardens, forests and fields on the edge, forest edges away from the noise of the world .... And yet ... wonders who wants and knows how to find a miracle, you can find the violets.

The evil is everywhere. Or circumvent, or attempt to get out of it. The bad is like a moor. If we enter into, or to lead, we can drown.

Steadfastly believe that everything we learn in life. At least, ought to learn. Every life, every birth is an option. Opportunity to become better people. If you manage to achieve this, we serve life as an example to
