The Perversion of Varnasrama

In Srimad Bhagavad-gita (4.13) the Supreme Personality of Godhead said:

catur-varnyam maya srstam
guna-karma-vibhagasah

I created the four social orders based on the divisions of guna (qualities as influenced by the modes of nature) and karma (the subsequent proclivity for work).

Anything created by Him cannot be destroyed. For this reason, in this age of Kali, all four social divisions (varnas) – brahmanaksatriyavaisya and sudra, which are based on guna and karma – are extant, but there have been alterations to their hue, or certain given aspects.

The system of varnasrama-dharma as delineated in the scriptures solves, beyond doubt, the problem of birth and death, since its aim is to achieve the favour of Lord Visnu. The currently imperilled system has produced a perversion of these four varnas, or class distinctions, now represented by political diplo

Dear Prabhus,
Please accept my respectful obeisances. All glories to our Jagat Guru Srila Prabhupada!
Here is my memories of Srila Prabhupada's disappearance pastimes. He was like Grandfather Bhismadeva leaving so bravely because he is totally Krsna Conscious took full shelter of Krsna from beginning to the end. The good news we know is that he lives on.
'Srila Prabhupada's Departure Pastime' by GPD

By Krsna's mercy I was allowed to serve his pure devotee Srila Prabhupada during his last year on this planet. My long cherished desire was finally fulfilled.

I went to Mayapura for the Gaura Pournima festival in the Spring of 1977. There I met Upendra Prabhu who I had known from the Hawaii Temple. He was arranging some flower vases in the hallway outside of Srila Prabhupada's room. When he finished he told me to take the vases into Srila Prabhupada's room. I was a little nervous and hesitated at the door when all of the sudden Upendra pushed me inside. Srila Prabhupada was alone sittin

Who Can Be a Real Guru?

by Bhaktivedanta Trivikrama Gosvami Maharaja

(Portrait of Sri Srimad Bhaktivedanta Trivikrama Gosvami Maharaja)

Excerpts from a lecture by
Sri Srimad Bhaktivedanta Trivikrama Gosvami Maharaja
Sri Devananda Gaudiya Matha, Navadvipa
8 March 1998

A Conditioned Soul is Never Equivalent to Guru

A person perceives the significance (gurutva) of a substance according to his qualification. Our endeavour to acquire objects with our senses often meets with failure, and we give up trying. Our senses are especially incapable of attaining that which is beyond this material nature. For this reason the scriptures state:

aprakrta vastu nahe prakrta-gocara
veda-puranete ei kahe nirantara

Sri Caitanya-caritamrta (Madhya-lila 9.194)

The Vedas and Puranas assess spiritual substance as being perpetually beyond the comprehension of mundane senses.

There is a difference of heaven and hell between my narration of the glories of the spiritual master and the narration of one who is really tattva-jna, well-versed in the conclusions of the scriptures.

Govardhana-Puja

Girirāja Govardhana

Hari-Dāsa-Varya

The Chief Devotee of Lord Hari

Lecture given by Śrī Śrīmad Gour Govinda Swami Mahārāja on Govardhana-pūjā
4 November, 1994, Bhubaneswar, India.

One day when Mahāprabhu was going to bathe in the ocean, He saw Caṭaka Parvata, a sand dune. If you have been to Jagannātha Purī you might have seen it. Caṭaka Parvata is situated in between the Ṭoṭā-gopīnātha temple and the Puruṣottama Gauḍīya Maṭha, the Gauḍīya Mission’s Maṭha, which was established by Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Gosvāmī. As soon as Mahāprabhu saw Caṭaka Parvata, He thought it was Giri Govardhana appearing before Him and He immediately recited a verse from the Tenth Canto of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam spoken by the gopīs in glorification of Giri Govardhana,

hantāyam adrir abalā hari-dāsa-varyo
yad rāma-kṛṣṇa-caraṇa-sparaśa-pramodaḥ
mānaṁ tanoti saha-go-gaṇayos tayor yat
pānīya-sūyavasa-kandara-kandamūlaiḥ
(Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 10.21.18)

Govardhana Pūjā Lecture

New York, November 4, 1966

Prabhupāda: Today Govardhanadhārī, Giridhārī, Lord Kṛṣṇa, today lifted the mountain. According to Vedic literature there are different demigods. Sometimes you will find in Greek mythology the gods of the water, gods of the thunderbolt. These are not imagination. Actually they are facts. But due to our insufficient knowledge we do not know how the material nature is being controlled. So when Kṛṣṇa was on this planet and He was playing the part of a cowherd boy, and it was known to all over the universe that "God has come, taken incarnation, and He is on the earth planet, and He is at Vṛndāvana playing the part of a cowherd boy..." So as if somebody, if there is incarnation of God, somebody believes and somebody does not believe, when Kṛṣṇa was actually present on this earth, it is not that everybody understood that Kṛṣṇa was the Supreme Personality of Godhead, not even up to date. Only few persons, the five brothers

"The Nectar of the Supreme Personality of Godhead"

of Srila Sanatana Gosvami

9468764455?profile=original

Chapter One

1 Glory to He who is a great ocean of many sweetnesses, who is scented with the fragrance of youth, and who, in the form of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, descended (to this world) to give pure love for His own lotus feet and to personally taste the perfect eternal love felt by the gopis.

2 Glory to the gopis headed by Srimati Radharani, who are famous as the beloveds of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and the sweetness of whose intimate relationship with Lord Hari no one will ever have the slightest power to describe.

3 Glory to Lord Hari who, seeing the very sweet love His dear devotees bear for Him, eagerly descended (to this world) in the form of a devotee, who is now splendid as gold, who is dressed as a sannyasi, who is the son of Srimati Saci-devi, and who bears the name Sri Krsna Caitanya.

4 Glory to Goddess Mathura, the best and most beautiful of citi

Driftin'

Moonlight dancing on the water
Through a canopy of trees
I am driftin' down this river
Like a songbird on the breeze

Reflections of the starry heavens
Shine like diamonds in the deep
If I should seek this apparition
In cold dark waters I will sleep

A soft voice beckons me upstream
This woman's love no man has ever won
Don't let her veil of glitter sway me
Lord, not my will, but Yours be done

As Your love carries me, I let the world drift by
And I hold on to the one thing that is mine
The simple means to reach my destiny:
The Holy Name flowing constantly

Hare Krishna Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama, Rama Rama Hare Hare

Your rays of mercy shine upon me
They dissipate this earthly dream
I am driftin' into daybreak
Fog is liftin' off this stream

This boat will someday sail beyond the waves of time
To the sea of Radha-Krishna's love divine
Where we were meant to taste that nectar sweet and pure
Have mercy on this fallen troubadour

Hare Kris

Srila Virabhadra Prabhu - Appearance

9468756063?profile=original
Sri Sri Birbhadra Goswami Prabhu at Khardaha Temple

Sri Viracandra or Virabhadra Prabhu appeared on the ninth day of the dark fortnight of the month of Kartik. Krsna dasa Kaviraja Gosvami has given this description of Him in the C.c. Adi 11.8-12:

"After Nityananda Prabhu, the greatest branch is Virabhadra Gosani, who also has innumerable branches and sub-branches. It is not possible to describe them all. Although Virabhadra Gosani was the Supreme Personality of Godhead, He presented Himself as a great devotee. And although the Supreme Godhead is transcendental to all Vedic injunctions, He strictly followed the Vedic rituals. He is the main pillar in the hall of devotional service erected by Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. He knew within himself that He acted as the Supreme Lord Visnu, but externally He was prideless. It is by the mercy of Sri Virabhadra Gosani that people all over the world now have the chance to chant the names of Caitanya and Nityananda. I there take shelter of the lotus feet

Rama Ekadasi, from the Brahma-Vaivarta Purana of Srila Krishna Dwaipayana Veda Vyaasa, observed November 9th.

Yudhisthira Maharaj said, "O Janardana, O protector of all beings, what is the name of the Ekadasi that comes during the dark fortnight (Krishna paksha) of the month of Karttika (October - November)? Please impart this sacred knowledge to me."

The Supreme Lord, Sri Krishna then spoke as follows, "O lion among kings, please listen as I narrate to you; The Ekadasi that occurs during the dark part of the month of Karttika is called Rama Ekadasi. It is most auspicious, for it at once eradicates the greatest sins and awards one the passage to the spiritual abode. I

Indus Valley 2,000 years older than thought
Nivedita Khandekar , Hindustan Times
New Delhi, November 04, 2012

A Mohenjo-daro seal
The beginning of India’s history has been pushed back by more than 2,000 years, making it older than that of Egypt and Babylon. Latest research has put the date of the origin of the Indus Valley Civilisation at 6,000 years before Christ, which contests the current theory that the
settlements around the Indus began around 3750 BC.

Ever since the excavations at Harappa and Mohenjo-daro in the early 1920s, the civilisation was considered almost as old as those of Egypt and Mesopotamia.

The finding was announced at the “International Conference on Harappan Archaeology”, recently organised by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) in Chandigarh.

Based on their research, BR Mani, ASI joint director general, and KN Dikshit, former ASI joint director general, said in a presentation: “The preliminary results of the dat

An Excerpt from "Advancements of Ancient India's Vedic Culture" by Sri Nandanandana dasa.

9468746482?profile=original

As devotees and followers of the Vedic path, we already accept the premise that Lord Krishna appeared 5,000 years ago and spoke the Bhagavad-gita in the Mahabharata war. But it is always nice when scholars, other researchers and science can add support to what we already propose. So let’s take a look at this.

One aspect that can show us the early nature of Vedic society, and with a little more reliability, is highlighting the time when Lord Krishna was present. This is another point that has generated many opinions, but is now much clearer than ever with more recent research and findings.

Astrophysicist Dr. Narahari Achar, a physicist from the University of Memphis, clearly showed with astronomical analysis that the Mahabharata war took place in 3067 BCE. Examining the Mahabharata, books 3, 5, and 18, his sky map software showed that all these descriptions converge in the year 3067. Achar als
