The Nandotsav - Birth ceremony of Lord Sri Krishna Taken from Srimad Bhagavatam 10th Canto, 5th Chapter, translated by H.D.G. Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.

As described in this chapter, Nanda Maharaja very gorgeously performed the birth ceremony for his newborn child. Then he went to Kamsa to pay taxes due and met his intimate friend Vasudeva.

There was great jubilation all over Vrindavana due to Krishna’s birth. Everyone was overwhelmed with joy. Therefore the King of Vraja, Maharaja Nanda, wanted to perform the birth ceremony for his child, and this he did. During this great festival, Nanda Maharaja gave in charity to all present whatever they desired. After the festival, Nanda Maharaja put the cowherd men in charge of protecting Gokula, and then he went to Mathura to pay official taxes to Kamsa. In Mathura, Nanda Maharaja met Vasudeva. Nanda Maharaja and Vasudeva were brothers, and Vasudeva praised Nanda Maharaja’s good fortune because he knew that Krishna had accepte

Kindly use your Krsna-given intelligence. Whom wanted Prabhupada gone? The jewish bankster demons who run the banks and USA slave system. Who took over after Prabhupada's departure? Eight out of eleven were jews. Thats 75%. How many disciples were jews? Maybe 1%. Who are the murderers, now revealed fully and proved? JEWS. Iskcon has been turned into a slave system for the jew bosses. Why are the controllers and Gooroos now still mostly jews? Now you're starting to understand a few things...Jewpataka, Bhavananda, Radhanatha, Jayadvaita, Bhaktimarga, Tamala Judas, Hrdayananda, Sivarama, Romapada, etc etc etc ; ie all the main controllers and who got rich on our works, all jews. I am not racist, just not stupid blind like the new age gay goy coward duped stupid weirdos iskcon has become under the jew disempower and enslavement regime.

You already have a spiritual body.

" why not adopt austerity that provides permanent happiness?":

You have to purify your existence and your body. As many times as you accept a material body, you'll have to change it. But as soon as you get a spiritual body, there's no change. You already have a spiritual body. Now, because of our material contamination, we are developing the material body.

But if we get in touch with spiritual life, then we will develop a spiritual body. It is the same example I have given several times: if you put an iron bar in the fire, it becomes like fire. Similarly, if you are always busy in spiritual activities, your body will act spiritually, even if it is material. It's the same example: when an iron bar is red-Hot, everything it touches will burn it. Take the quality of the fire. In the same way, if you always keep yourself conscious of Krishna, you'll be espiritualizarás. You'll always act spiritually. There will be no more material requirements.

Janmashtami

Montreal 1968: Prabhupada on Janmashtami

So, today is the birth—appearance ceremony—of Lord Krishna.

In the Bhagavad-gita, the Lord says,

janma karma ca me divyam yo janati tattvatah tyaktva deham punar janma naiti mam eti kaunteya [Bg. 4.9]

"My dear Arjuna, any person who simply tries to understand about My transcendental birth or appearance and disappearance and activities, janma karma..."

The Personality of Godhead is not niskriya, without activities. So anyone who can understand what kind of activities the Lord has and what kind of birth He accepts; simply by understanding these two things one gets wonderful result.

What is that? Tyaktva deham. By quitting this body—tyaktva deha punar janma naiti [Bg. 4.9]—he does not take any more birth in this material world.

Tyaktva deham punar janma naiti. Some of us may think that “punar janma naiti” means he becomes vanquished. No. Punar janma naiti, but mam eti, "He does not come to this material world, but he comes to Me." Mam eti.

I HAD TWO DREAMS, I WISH TO SHARE;

I was at a festival /mela, in India. While helping a lost child find her family, I came upon the Ganga River! I was very happy, it had been years since I had been at the Ganga, and went forward to offer my obeisances into the wet mud of her banks, which had clearly recently overflowed. I felt great joy , and awoke feeling purified and ecstatic.

I was at a large house/Temple, and Srila Prabhupada was coming to visit us! I was temple president. Srila Prabhupada visited our station, the cooks, pujaris, teachers giving class. He asked what time mangala artik was held, etc.
At one point, he was completing his tour, and was to go to his rooms.
I have been little anxious lately, whether my service here online and at SPIRITNET was pleasing and in line with what he wanted. I straight up asked him, "Srila Prabhupada is my service acceptable to you?" He smiled, clearly in ecstasy and told me "Yes!" I offered my obeisances. He did similarly, and then embrace

Srila Prabhupada....."The main business of human society is to think of the Supreme Personality of Godhead at all times, to become His devotees, to worship the Supreme Lord and to bow down before Him. The ācārya, the authorized representative of the Supreme Lord, establishes these principles, but when he disappears, things once again become disordered. The perfect disciples of the ācārya try to relieve the situation by sincerely following the instructions of the spiritual master"

One thing, the Father serves the sons. Krsna Godhead does not overly relish bowing and scraping and pleading etc. as overly reverential needy sons might do. Rather, He wishes to play as our equal friend etc. The Vaisnavas teach this path, it is most pleasing to Godhead, and that is our eternal nature, pure service in pursuit of Krsna's pleasure, His happiness, which in ultimate is our own true happiness. We are part and parcel, we have no seperate selfish interests in our realized status. That is full liberation and unity.

No Positive Happiness

We actually know no positive or real happiness. Our pure natural spiritual state is total happiness. But in material existence, all we can know are varying degrees of our suffering, being greater or lesser in each category , and those categories being determined by our current subtle false ego desire being grafted to our gross body and our lives, in combo and reaction to, and with resonant result, of all our past, plus interest...

Only when ALL false ego is ERADICATED, will ALL HAPPINESS RETURN. Meanwhile and until then, headache.

By postively reengaging with Godhead's varied scenarios, ie giving up our imagined selfish needs, and serving our mutual needs as Jiva-Godhead combo, then we are indeed again our SELF. This is purely voluntary, and based upon love and knowledge, which originlly spring from our eternal self-knowledge in delight with our love of Sri Krsna. .

YES ! , we have No Automatic

YES ! , we have No Automatic

From Srila Prabhupada's Gita, " [the jiva in the material body is ] ...as if on a machine made of material energy."

9468803269?profile=original

Imagine yourself living in a rich human culture. You are driving down the endless gorgeous avenues, following the signs, the well-maintained road, obeying for the better part all the safety rules, and, you always have the brakes. It is smooth and natural, well planned, well outlined, well executed, it is orchestrated nicely, things go on as if on automatic...

But you waver after a while in your comfort, you fall asleep, ....and suddenly ! your car veers. While your head dropped, greater laws took force. Your loss of awareness almost led to disaster. But, fortunately, you shockingly awaken and correct the deviation...

But enough of the analogy. As you guessed, it will come down to this;

Your Conscious Voluntary Participation is AT ALL TIMES NECESSARY, in spiritual life. THERE IS NO AUTOMATIC, and There is NO FORCE.

There is Free Will, a will

All glories to Srila Prabhupada And Gauranga Mahaprabhu!

On this day in 1965, Srila Prabhupada left Calcutta aboard the steamship Jaladuta.

..Then in 1965, just before he turned seventy, an age when most devotees of Krsna are confined to Vrndavana and preparing to pass away, Srila Prabhupada took the risk of going to the West. A Mr. Agarwal in nearby Mathura had a son who agreed to sponsor Srila Prabhupada at his home in Butler, Pennsylvania, for one month. And Sumati Morarjee, the head of the Scindia Steamship Company, agreed to give him free round-trip passage to America on one of her cargo ships. But he had to travel without money, since governmental restrictions prevented him from taking money out of the country. His prospects, therefore, were full of uncertainty: he had only a month’s residence in the United States, he would be living with strangers, and he had no money and no formulated plan for what to do in America. But he was thoroughly convinced of the potency of his spirit

Balarama Purnima

11898601_520829404737441_3531995164846490146_n.jpg

Lord Balarama is the first personal expansion of Lord Krsna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead. All other incarnations expand from Him. In Lord Krsna’s pastimes, He plays as Krsna’s older brother. Together Krsna and Balarama enact many pastimes as cowherd boys in the land of Vrndavana.

Who is Lord Balarama?
The Supreme Personality of Godhead, Krishna, is the fountainhead of all incarnations. Lord Balarama is His second body. They are both one and the same identity. They differ only in form. Balarama is the first bodily expansion of Krishna, and He assists in Lord Krishna's transcendental pastimes. He is the source of the entire spiritual world and is the adi-guru, the original spiritual master.

He assumes five other forms to serve Lord Krishna. He Himself helps in the pastimes of Lord Krishna, and He does the work of creation in four other forms called the catur-vyuha (four armed) forms known as Vasudeva, Sankarshana, Pradyumna and Anirudha. He executes the orders of Lord Krishna in the

Hayagriva sthothram- Hymn on the Horse faced Lord

This is Hymn in thirty two slokas on Hayagriva, the Supreme God of learning in Vaishnava Sampradaya. About this incarnation of Bhagavan, the purana narrates that a demon took away all the Vedas from four-faced Brahma and Bhagavan as Hayagriva killed him and gave them back to Brahma. God Dakshina-murti, Saraswati and sages like Vyasa shine with the knowledge bestowed to them by Hayagriva and are worshipped by others for attaining knowledge. The tradition about Sri Vedanta Desika is that he meditated on Hayagriva on the Hill Oshadhadri on the banks of River Garuda repeating the Mantra. The Lord appeared before him and blessed him with all knowledge. Thus Sri Desika became the master of all sciences and arts-“Sarva-tantra-svatantra”. All words were before him so that he could choose and use them as he wanted. The devotion of Sri Desika to Hayagriva was so great that hayagriva-stotra is the first of his lyrics. His prayer to the Lord Hayagri

Juhlan Yatra Ends

The swing festival of Radha-Krsna. The Deities ride on an elaborately decorated swing.

Deities in the temples are swung on a swing. Some of the main temples that this festival is celebrated at are the Banke Bihari Temple and the Radha-Raman Temple in Vrindavana, the Dwarkadish temple in Mathura, and the Larily Lal Temple in Varsana.

In our Iskcon temples we observe for five days in accordance with Srila Prabhupada's instructions. So whether one observes for the four days or for the seven, or thirteen days, the same festival is put on for the pleasure of the Lord and His loving associates.

This is a wonderful ceremonial function of Lord Krishna's pastimes that reflects practically how we are to render service to the Lord for His pleasure.

At the time of the Jhulan Yatra festival it is Monsoon in India and the air is thick, heavy and humid with the heat and the rains. In the midst of the rainy season, when fields and jungle have turned shades of lush green and flowers are blossoming all arou

Second Month of Caturmasya Begins

933cbd6d3d82995fa3fb687f614dd91c--lakshmi-photos-indian-gods.jpg

Second month: No yoghurt (if one requires it for health, it can be mixed with water)

Caturmasya stands for ‘four months’. It is the period between sayana and uttana ekadasis. The scriptures refer to this period as the duration of Lord Visnu’s sleep in this universe.

The main goal of observing Caturmasya is to decrease attachment to material things and to increase devotion to Krishna.

Srila Prabhupada writes in Caitanya Caritamrta, “Caturmasya should be observed by all sections of the population. It does not matter whether one is a grihasta or a sanyasi. The observation is obligatory to all ashramas.” He further explains how to observe the vow:  “This is not very difficult. In the month of Sravana one should not eat spinach (green leafy vegetables of the nature), in the month of Bhadra one should not eat yogurt (yogurt used as binding agent for cake is allowed), and in the month of Asvina one should not drink milk (milk sweets, milk by-products are fine).

One should not eat fish or other

A major trap of maya.....This is certainly not a benediction.
>......The deceit of the nirapeksa-sadhaka (the renunciant) is that he maintains pride by thinking himself to be the topmost Vaisnava; he adopts the dress of a renunciant and due to false ego regards other sadhakas as inferior; he collects wealth and other material assets; he associates with women and materialistic people; he collects wealth in the name of bhajana; he weakens his affection towards Krsna by being overly attached to the external dress and rules of the renounced order and so forth.
......The abundance of deceit and hypocrisy that are clearly evident in a sadhaka, even though he has adopted the path of sadhana, are compared to the urine of a donkey.
......Considering oneself intently engaged in bhajana while remaining devious and hypocritical is like considering oneself pure after bathing in the filthy, burning urine of a donkey."
