"The rain drop from the sky, if it is caught in hands is pure enough for drinking.

If it falls in gutter, it's value drops so much that it can't be used for washing the feet.

If it falls on hot surface, it perishes.

If it falls on lotus leaf, it shines like a pearl and finally,

if it falls on oyster, it becomes a pearl.

The drop is same, but it's existence & worth depends on with whom it associates."

We are these rain drops that have come from the spiritual sky. So don't look down upon one that falls in the gutter because you fell in an oyster or on lotus leaf. Instead, with compassion guide others not so fortunate, to have right association so they becomes pure..

Hare Krishna.

Divine Presence

Hare Krishna! 9468795296?profile=original

According to an old Hindu legend, there was a time when all human beings were gods, but they abused their divinity.

So, Brahma, the chief God, decided to take the divinity away from them and hide it somewhere they could never find it.

Brahma called a council of the gods to help him decide where to hide the divinity.
“Let’s bury it deep in the earth,” said the gods. But Brahma answered, “Humans will dig into the earth and find it.”

Some gods suggested, “Let’s sink it in the deepest ocean.” But Brahma said, “No, Human will learn to dive into the ocean and will
find it.”

Then some gods suggested, “Let’s take it to the top of the highest mountain and hide it there.”

Brahma replied, “Human will eventually climb every mountain and take up their divinity.” Then all the gods gave up and said, “We do not know where to hide it, because it seems that there is no place on earth or ocean that human beings will not eventually reach.”

Brahma thought for a long time said, “We will hide their d

Lessons from the Titanic

9468788652?profile=original

There were three ships which were nearby when the Titanic sank in 1912

One of them was known as the Sampson. It was 7 miles away from the Titanic and they saw the white flares signaling danger, but because the crew had been hunting seals illegally and didn’t want to be caught, they turned and went the opposite direction away from the Titanic. This ship represents us and people like us if we are so busy looking inward at our own sin and lives that we can’t recognize when someone else... is in need.

The next ship was the Californian. This ship was only 14 miles away from the Titanic, but they were surrounded by ice fields and the captain looked out and saw the white flares, but because the conditions weren’t favorable and it was dark, he decided to go back to bed and wait until morning. The crew tried to convince themselves that nothing was happening. This ship represents those of us who say I can’t do anything now. The conditions aren’t right for it and so we wait until conditions are pe

Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur

Sri Sacidananda Bhaktivinoda Thakura appeared in 1838 in a wealthy family in the Nadia district, West Bengal. He revealed that he is an eternal associate of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu by his extraordinary preaching activities and prolific writing. Living as a, mahabhagavata Vaisnava, he stayed in the grhasta ashram until the last few years of his life. Then he renounced everything, accepted babaji, and entered samadhi, totally absorbed in the loving service of Gaura-Gadadhara and Radha-Madhava.

"He had a responsible government position as the District Magistrate (high court judge), maintained a Krishna conscious family, and wrote almost one hundred books on Krishna consciousness. At the same time, he served the Supreme Lord in so many ways. That is the beauty of his life. After a full day of government service he would sleep four hours, get up at midnight and write until morning. That was his daily program." (Srila Prabhupada)

What is the purpose of human birth?

Hare Krishna!

All our life, since childhood, we are told to do good and avoid doing evil. Do good and you shall enjoy in heaven, do bad and you shall suffer in Hell.

But that is not the purpose of human life. Krishna says not to get carried away by the flowery words of the Vedas that if you do good then after you enjoy heavenly planets you shall come back into an aristocratic family with all the luxuries to enjoy in this world. Even though we may get a higher birth, we cannot avoid death, old age, disease and again birth. Then, we also have to deal with Adyatmic suffering (the suffering of the mind), Adibhautik suffering (pain caused by things and people) and Adidaivic suffering (suffering caused by divine arrangement - floods, famine, earthquakes, tsunamis, etc)

The purpose of the human birth is to question the higher purpose as to why we are given this human body. When we get a burning desire in our hearts to know the Truth, Krishna sends us His messenger, a pure soul, a spiritual guid

"So we have to follow the footprints of the Gosvāmīs, how to search out Kṛṣṇa and Rādhārāṇī, Vṛndāvana, or within your heart. That is the process of Caitanya Mahāprabhu's bhajana: feeling of separation, vipralambha, vipralambha-sevā. Just like Caitanya Mahāprabhu, feeling the separation of Kṛṣṇa, He was falling down on the sea. He was coming out of His rest room or His bedroom and going out at dead of night. Nobody knew where He has gone. So that was His searching. This process of devotional service is taught by Caitanya Mahāprabhu. Not that very easily, "We have seen Kṛṣṇa or seen Rādhārāṇī in rāsa-līlā." No, not like that. Feel the separation. The more you feel separation from Kṛṣṇa, you should understand that you are advancing. Don't try to see Kṛṣṇa artificially. Be advanced in separation feeling, and then it will be perfect. That is the teachings of Lord Caitanya.

Because with our material eyes we cannot see Kṛṣṇa. Ataḥ śrī-kṛṣṇa-nāmādi na bhaved grāhyam indriyaiḥ (CC Madhya 17.

Chapter Two: Texts 42-3:

Please read texts 42-43 of chapter two along with the purport, and then read the following commentary.  Afterwards, each participant should offer a thought or comment on this passage. As you do so, please consider this study question:

Why is it better to be a devotee of Krsna than to serve the demi-gods?

yam imam puspitam vacam
pravadanty avipascitah
veda-vada-ratah partha
nanyad astiti vadinah

kamatmanah svarga-para
janma-karma-phala-pradam
kriya-visesa-bahulam
bhogaisvarya-gatim prati

Following up on the previous text, Sri Krsna warns that few people realize this higher truth. Even those situated in a religious mode of life will many times fail due to the allure of material things. The karma-kanda sections of the Vedas will leave people lustful and desirous. Believing that the Vedas hold the key to a life of sensory pleasure, many will begin to practice various belief sets. If one prays to this demi-god, one can attain long life; if one prays to

"But in this life, if we develop Kṛṣṇa consciousness by association of devotees... As Narottama dāsa Ṭhākura has sung...

tāṅdera caraṇa-sevi-bhakta-sane vāsa

One's aim of life should be to serve the ācāryas. Ācārya upāsanam. So our ācārya in the Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇava Sampradāya, the śrī-rūpa sanātana bhaṭṭa-raghunātha, śrī-jīva gopāla-bhaṭṭa dāsa-raghunātha, the Six Gosvāmīns, and if we associate with them... this book, Nectar of Devotion, Bhakti-rasāmṛta-sindhu, if you read regularly, try to understand, this means you are associating with Śrīla Rūpa Gosvāmī directly. And if you act accordingly, then you are serving their lotus feet."

Srila Prabhupada The Nectar of Devotion Vrndavana, October 20, 1972

NOTE: So similarly if we read Prabhupada's books regularly and try to understand, then we are associating with Srila Prabhupada directly. And if we act accordingly, then we are serving His lotus Feet...As Prabhupada often says "Where is the difficulty?"

Cleanliness is Godliness

Mighty Garuda's photo.

" One should get up right at the stroke of dawn. After thinking of Vishnu. After thinking of Vishnu, it is time to have a bath. It is best to bathe in the morning. A sinner who does this is freed from all sins. There are however six types of baths and their names are brahma, agneya, vayavya, divya, varuna, and yougika. In a brahma bath one chants mantras while sprinkling water on one’s body. To rub one’s body with ashes is to have an agneya bath. To do the same with cowdung is to have a vagavya bath. Sunbathing means having a divya bath. In a varuna bath one bathes with water. And if one meditates on Vishnu, one can have a yougika bath, without doing anything else. Teeth should always be brushed while facing the ea

Haridāsa Ṭhākura said that liberation and freedom from the reactions of sinful activities are only by-products of chanting the holy name of the Lord. If one chants the holy name of the Lord purely, he attains the platform of loving service to the Supreme Personality of Godhead. In this regard Haridāsa Ṭhākura gave an example comparing the power of the holy name to sunshine.

ei ślokera artha kara paṇḍitera gaṇa"
sabe kahe,—'tumi kaha artha-vivaraṇa'

He placed a verse before all the learned scholars present, but the learned scholars asked him to state the purport of the verse.

haridāsa kahena,—"yaiche sūryera udaya
udaya nā haite ārambhe tamera haya kṣaya

Haridāsa Ṭhākura said that as the sun begins to rise, it dissipates the darkness of night, even before the sunshine is visible.

caura-preta-rākṣasādira bhaya haya nāśa
udaya haile dharma-karma-ādi parakāśa

Before the sunrise even takes place, the light of dawn destroys the fear of the dangers of the night, such

Srila Prabhupada said; "And when one understands that he is not a master—he is servant—and the real master is Kṛṣṇa, that is liberation."9468794289?profile=originalTamohara dasa; The word "servant" in the world is tainted with visions of abuse and low-class versus upper class. Anyone who hears this word 'servant' thinks immediately of exploitation by the rich of poorer persons. But Krsna is Atmarama, He does not need any service of any kind. However, we the jivas are given full opportunity to associate with the topmost Being, and that must necessarily contain some degree of "subserviant" as we are comparatively tiny and Krsna is very great. Still He prefers to foget that He is Godhead, and engage with us as His equals, such as His cowherd friends or even Superiors, such as Yasoda Nanda, so there is no abusive exploitive relationship there. To be servant of the Supreme is to become oneself part and parcel of that Supreme, to identify with Him, and thus the notion of higher and lower vanishes in the light of lovi

Sri Srivasa Pandit Disappearance

 Sri Srivasa Pandita

9468794453?profile=original

Shrivasa Pandit, fifth member of the Panca-tattva, Shri Krishna Chaitanya, Prabhu Nityananda, Shri Advaita, Gadadhara, Shrivasadi, Gaura Bhakta Vrinda lived in Navadwipa before the advent of Lord Chaitanya. Shrivasa lead his brothers Shri Rama, Shri Nidhi, and Shripati in their devotional lives of singing Krishna's names, worshiping the Lord, and bathing thrice daily in the Ganges.

Meeting with Shri Advaita Acharya Prabhu, they studied Bhagavatam and prayed for an incarnation of the Supreme Lord. Why did they pray? Because only an avatara of Krishna could reestablish Vaishnavism among the staunch atheists, logicians, and proud pandits harassing Nadia at that time.

Malini, wife of Shrivasa, was a constant friend of Sachi Devi. She served Nimai as a nurse. When Lord Vishvambhara appeared, the hearts of all the Devotees were filled with parental affection (vatsalya bhava). Gaurachandra loved Malini and Shrivasa as a second mother and father.

   Shrivasa Angan was lo

hdg A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami;  "We have taken the best in the whole creation of the Lord, Kṛṣṇa consciousness."

Without being pure, how can you expect to reach God? This is all rascaldom. To keep oneself dirty, impure in mind, in body, in feeling, in character, and you want to go to God? Rascal. (laughter) Forget! There is no entrance for you to God.

yaṁ brahmā varuṇendra-rudra-marutaḥ stunvanti divyaiḥ stavair
vedaiḥ sāṅga-pada-kramopaniṣadair gāyanti yaṁ sāma-gāḥ
dhyānāvasthita-tad-gatena manasā paśyanti yaṁ yogino
yasyāntaṁ na viduḥ surāsura-gaṇā devāya tasmai namaḥ

God's position is that, that the yogis, they are trying to capture God by meditation. And demigods like Brahmā, Lord Śiva and others, they are offering Vedic prayers. And the Sāma Veda is always singing the glories of the Lord. The Lord is so exalted, so pure. So if you have to reach Kṛṣṇa, you must be pure, cent percent pure. And that is not very difficult. This ceto-darpaṇa-mārjanam (C

During the time of the Lord's residence in Puri he continued to live with Him there as well. Sri Vakreshwar Pandit took birth in the villageof Guptiparanear Triveni. He was an especially proficient dancer and kirtaniya and could dance continuously for 72 hours.

When Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu began His pastimes of congregational chanting of the Holy Name of Sri Hari in Navadwip,Sri VakreshwarPandit was an important singer and dancer in that assembly. It was by His mercy that Devananda Pandit was delivered from the wrath of Mahaprabhu. He was also present during the Lord'sjourney to Ramakeli. Devananda Pandit was, at one time, known as the foremost lecturer on the Bhagavat. One day Srivas Pandit went to hear his discourse, and being moved in ecstatic love by hearing the Bhagavatam, he began to cry. A few of the ignorant
