Jhulana Yatra, by Srila Narayana Maharajah

Tridandisvami Sri Srimad Bhaktivedanta Narayana Maharaja

THE SWING CEREMONY

Rupa-Sanatana Gaudiya Matha

[This year Jhulan-yatra begins on August 20th. Every year there is a five day festival all over Vrndavana called Jhulana-yatra, at which time the vijaya-vigraha (small) Deities of Sri Sri Radha and Krsna are swung by hundreds of thousands of Vrajabasis and others, in their various temples or homes, on a beautiful swing attached to long ropes. Srila Narayana Maharaja yearly leads this festival at Sri Kesavaji Gaudiya Matha and Sri Rupa Sanatana Gaudiya Matha, at which time he gives a short talk about the significance of this festival. The following is a translation of both his Hindi talks, given on August 8, 2003:]

In the month of Sravana (the rainy season), the clouds in the sky begin to make a thundering sound and extremely fine mist-like rain drizzles everywhere. The atmosphere is very beautiful and pleasant after the heat of the summer months, for at that time all the forests

Life of Srila Prabhupada

Srila Prabhupada. A brief summary of his life and teachings.

Meditation50B.jpg

“So far my present life is concerned, I do not remember any part of my life when I was forgetful of Krishna.” Srila Prabhupada

In the ancient Vedic literatures (Vedas) it is stated that the ultimate cause of all causes, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, is Lord Sri Krishna. The name Krishna means “All-attractive”, and by His unlimited, transcendental opulence’s He can attract all living beings. There are many incarnations of Lord Krishna. Each one is scheduled and forecast within the Vedas themselves, and manifest within this material world in order to teach by example the path to spiritual emancipation.

The most recent incarnation of Lord Krishna appeared just over five hundred years ago as Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, the Golden Avatar. It was Lord Chaitanya who predicted that the chanting of His holy names - Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare / Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare - would spread

Entering Krishnas Family

His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta

Swami Prabhupada

Krishna in Vrindavan has got a wonderful family.

He has his father Nanda Maharaja and his mother

Yashoda. He has hundreds and thousands of boyfriends

and girlfriends. The trees, the plants, the

flowers, the fruits, the land, the water, the cows, the

calves — he is surrounded by a wonderful family.

He is not a single person. Suppose we say, “Now the

president is coming.” The president means that he is

not coming alone; he is coming with his secretaries,

ministers, some soldiers, bodyguards, and so many

other people. He is not alone. So if an insignificant

material president is always surrounded by his associates,

you can just imagine the supreme being.

He cannot be alone. That is Krishna. Krishna is

not zero. The çünyavädis say, “Everything is zero

after this.” And the nirviçeñavädis say, “Everything

is like sky.” No. Krishna is an individual, a person.

He says in the second chapter of Bhagavad-gétä,

“My d

“The Path of Religion is directly enunciated by the Supreme Lord”

“Interviewer: I think history shows that many people have misused religion. Isn’t that a fact?

Srila Prabhupada: These people have no conception of God, and they are preaching religion. What is religion?
Dharmam tu saksad bhagavat-pranitam: “The path of religion is directly enunciated by the Supreme Lord.” They have no conception of God–they do not know what God is–and they are professing some religion. How long can it go on artificially? It will deteriorate.

That has become the present condition. They have no idea of God, so how will they know what is the order of God? Religion means the order of God. For example, law means the order of the state. If there is no state, then where is the order? We have a clear conception of God — Krishna. He is giving His order, and we accept it. It is clear religion. If there is no God, no conception of God, no order of God, then where is religion? If there is no government, then wher

Srila Prabhupada – the acarya, spiritual master and initiating guru of Iskcon

Srila Prabhupada: "Yes, I am the spiritual master of this institution"

Prabhupada: “Yes, I am the spiritual master of this institution, and all the members of the society, they’re supposed to be my disciples .

They follow the rules and regulations which I ask them to follow, and they are initiated by me spiritually. So therefore the spiritual master is called guru. That is Sanskrit language.” ( Srila Prabhupada’s KGO Radio Interview, 1968 )

Srila Prabhupada: “This is the function of the GBC, to see that one may not be taken away by maya.

-

The GBC should all be the instructor gurus. I am the initiator guru, and you should be the instructor guru by teaching what I am teaching and doing what I am doing . This is not a title, but you must actually come to this platform. This is what I want.” (to Madhudvisa 4 Aug, 1975)

Srila Prabhupada: Don’t be allured by cheap disciples. Go on steadfastly to render servi

Srila Prabhupada; You become a Guru. How?

Srīmad-Bhāgavatam 6.1.21
by His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda
Honolulu, May 21, 1976

Prabhupāda: (leads chanting, etc.)

kānyakubje dvijaḥ kaścid dāsī-patir ajāmilaḥ nāmnā naṣṭa-sadācāro dāsyāḥ saṁsarga-dūṣitaḥ

So yesterday Śukadeva Gosvāmī said, “In this connection I shall cite the example, historical example, of Ajāmila.” So historical reference. It is not fiction because Kānyakubja is still there. The city of Kānyakubja is still existing there, and the Bhāgavata was written five thousand years ago. So that means the city existed before five thousand… Kānyakubje. Kānyakubje dvijaḥ. Dvija means twice-born. First-born by the father and mother, and the next birth is dvijaḥ, means by the father, spiritual master, and the mother, Vedic knowledge. This is called second birth. Saṁskārād bhaved dvijaḥ. Saṁkāra means purificatory process. So that is human life, not that to beget a child. That begetting is going on by the cats and dogs. That is not… That is fir

Srila Prabhupada, Foundation Stone Ceremony Speech, Bhubaneswar, February 2, 1977 : My foreign disciples, they could not understand either Hindu or Oriya. So for this movement, I am very much obliged to these American boys.

The history of this movement is that my Guru Maharaja, His Divine Grace Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura, and before him, Bhaktivinoda Thakura, they had an intense desire to preach Caitanya Mahaprabhu’s message throughout the whole world. That was the intense desire of Caitanya Mahaprabhu.

prthivite ache yata nagaradi-grama sarvatra pracara haibe mora nama

He wanted it. Because this is the only message to bring the human society into oneness. There is no other alternative. That is confirmed in the Srimad-Bhagavatam:

kaler dosa-nidhe rajann asti hy eko mahan gunah kirtanad eva krsnasya mukta-sangah param vrajet
So this Kali-yuga, as described by our Gaura-Govinda Maharaja, a bhankara yuga. But there is one opportunity, kirtanad eva kr

His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada
Founder~Acharya of the Krsna Consciousness Movement

13 June, 1972
Los Angeles
Letter to Bhargava

"Our advancement in Krishna Consciousness is made possible in two ways by Knowledge and renunciation, jnana and tyaga or tapasya. The more we become renounced from this material world, the more we advance in Krishna Consciousness. But we are only able to make such sacrifices and perform tapasya if we have got knowledge. So first thing is to become knowledgeable in Krishna Consciousness, then the tapasya or voluntary life of austerity will result automatically.

So I am requesting all of my students to read my books very seriously every day without fail. In this way, if your mind becomes absorbed at least one or two hours daily in the transcendental subject matter of Srimad-Bhagavatam, Bhagavad-gita, and other books then very easily you will make your advancement in Krishna Consciousness. It is not a matter of changing our engagement, adjusti

This is an exerpt from a conversation with Prabhbu Kriyaban Yogi Ji.

"One who succeeds in either of these paths, O Arjuna, acheives the results of both." ( sadhana/raganuga bhakti and astanga yoga)
Both, however, require bhakti. Indeed, there are many instances of children and demons and simple persons, non yogis per se, acheiving Vaikuntha, but none of those entering there without the qualification of pure bhakti in devotional service. Thus, by power of Sri Caitanya's ecstasy and Divine Mercy, extensive qualifications in yoga are not necessarily required to acheive the higest goals in this Kaliyuga.

Harinama, Harinama, Harinama eva kevalam ... repeated thrice in sastra just to convince us Kali-yuga-ites.

The bhaktas and the yogis travel by inner transcendental airplane powerd by devotional exchange, as if upon wings of purely vibrated Vaisnava mantra. They also sometimes travel by mystic yoga process, or by visible Vaikuntha Airplanes.

Considering the severe penances and acquiring p

. “Ashvatthama proved himself to be an unworthy son of Dronacharya or of a brahmana, and for this reason he was condemned by the greatest authority, Lord Sri Krishna, and yet a mild woman could not withdraw her natural courtesy for a brahmana. . . The specific words used in this sloka are vama-svabhava, ‘mild and gentle by nature.’ A good man or woman accepts anything very easily, but a man of average intelligence does not do so. But, anyway, we should not give up our reason and discriminatory power just to be gentle. One must have good discriminatory power to judge a thing on its merit. We should not follow the mild nature of a woman and thereby accept that which is not genuine.” Srimad Bhagavatam, 1.7.42, purport

O Son of Pritha, intelligence in the mode of passion is that by which religion and irreligion, and what is to be done and what is not to be done, are imperfectly discriminated. Covered by darkness, thinking irreligion to be religion, and in all things striving in the wron

THE RAINS CAME

THE SECOND MIRACLE

By Bhagavat Das (ACBSP)

This pastime of Srila Prabhupada is related by Guru Das in his book about Srila Prabhupada “By His Example” on page 249 in the section titled Krishna’s Mercy. I am reproducing it exactly as it appears in the book.

“Late at night, when everyone else was asleep, was a nice time to be with Prabhupada. He was usually in a very mellow mood, so if I wanted to have his precious darshan I would sometimes stand outside his door and make slight noises so he would come out to see what the noise was and invite me in. We were staying in the new quarters in Mayapur, in the first of the four, large residence buildings. The sky was overcast; I was yearning for Prabhupada’s association, so I went near his rooms and made walking and chanting sounds. No servants were around, so Prabhupada came out himself saying, “Who is that?” He saw me chanting, smiled, and came all the way out of his quarters.

“Preaching to Agnostics using Natural Observations”

2009 August 5

Sri Caitanya Caritamrta Adi 7.131

“In the Vedic literature, including the Ramayanam, Puranas, and Mahabharata, from the beginning to the end, as well as in the middle, only Hari, the Personality of Godhead, is explained.”

But what of those who do not accept sastra, but depend upon their tiny brains instead? How can they be delivered? How can the agnostics take the Pure Names? I have had occasion to have to preach to some atheists lately. These persons, who are often devotees of modern science, try to influence innocent others by making cheap criticisms of the Christians, for example, so my tendency is to want to sway them with deeper reason.

It occurs to me, from seeing our Srila Prabhupada preach to scientists, that an honest person can be shown truth by a path of successive approximations. One starts out at a low enough level to capture th

at Boston Harbor, September 18, 1965

My dear Lord Krishna, You are so kind upon this useless soul, but I do not know why You have brought me here. Now You can do whatever You like with me.
2)
But I guess You have some business here, otherwise why would You bring me to this terrible place?
3)
Most of the population here is covered by the material modes of ignorance and passion. Absorbed in material life, they think themselves very happy and satisfied, and therefore they have no taste for the transcendental message of Vasudeva. I do not know how they will be able to understand it.
4)
But I know Your causeless mercy can make everything possible because You are the most expert mystic.
5)
How will they understand the mellows of devotional service? O Lord,, I am simply praying for Your mercy so that I will be able to convince them about Your message.

.The chanting of the Holy Names is the most sublime religion for the Kali yuga; the Hare Krsna mantra is specifically mentioned in many Upanisads, such as the Kali-santarana U., wherein it it is said;

This is a verse from Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam. This was recited by Brahmā. The purpose of this verse is… Brahmā says that “Although I am Brahmā, and before me all the great sages, everyone, has tried to know the Supreme Lord in complete, but nobody could understand where is the end of the unlimited potencies of the Supreme Lord.”

Even Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa Himself, He does not know how unlimited is His potency. Lord Caitanya says that. He also does not know.

Ashakti, by Avadhoota Swami Maharajah (ACBSP)

In actual fact we have two profiles. One is our saadak body by which we are executing to the best of ability 'naudha bhakti' (9 main angas of bhakti). The other profile is latent within us. It is revealed in 'bhava' but somewhat at the stage of aashakti. By continuous intense devotional service that profile (swaroop) will come
to manifest particularly if we get the mercy of a Vaishnava-sadhu and Srimati Radharani.
I am still anxious to know the profile of my guru mahararj, Srila Prabhupada. Although many godbrothers such as Tripurari Swami feel that he is a 'gopa', others such as Srila Gour Govinda Maharaja said otherwise, particularly since all of the acharyas in our line of Goudiya Vaishnavism are gopis or manjaris to be more specific. In time that intimate associate of Srimati will be revealed.

Hari Hari,,,Hari Hari.....bifala janama gonainu.......Hari Hari.........Hari Hari...........

'Aashakti' follows the stage of 'ruchee'. Each devotee or 'sadhak' must advance from one stage t
