The spirit soul has free will, being made in the image of Govinda in a percentage of qualities. At some point, expressing our unlimited potentials, some of us wish to play games, to exercise our free will, like teenagers moving out of the house, or like skaters emboldened to skate even on what appears thin ice, or hearty souls adventuring into the forest in a new territory...

and so may temporarily venture away from the realm of Vaikuntha or Goloka.

It is not all negative! It is not necessarily "envious". It is a positive expression of Krsna's love, such that He allows us our freedom to choose, even if sometimes we choose something bold or temporary. It's a POSITIVE CHOICE, not a "fall down", nor some envious horror story, that leads to the jiva's adventures in independence and material temporary existence. The consequences may be horrid, however, when we misuse this independence. Actually, we are not independent, it is an illusion for our own sake.

Prabhupāda: It was an office room. That building is meant for office, not for residency.

Rāmeśvara: Prabhupāda, if the spiritual master has a mission, is it proper for the disciple to think that he can take more than one..., he can take many births to help the mission of the spiritual master?

Prabhupāda: When the spiritual master goes there, somewhere, his nearest assistants, they automatically go there to assist him. When Kṛṣṇa comes, the demigods also come to help Him. That is there in the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam. All these Yadus, Yadu family, they came from heaven. So before Kṛṣṇa's disappearance, by some trick they were all killed and they returned to their original place. It is nicely described in the Caitanya-caritāmṛta

BUT THE DEMONIC PRINCIPLE IS SO STRONG....

However, the blissfulness that is relished by Krishna’s devotees is not His rather it belongs to Srimati Radhika in the Madhurya department and Mother Yashodha in the Vatsalya department. Only when Gopal is in Ananda Mode only then everyone is in that mode. Suppose Gopal gets cranky then you are not going to show your blissfulness and if you did by mistake Gopal ends up noticing you with that smile on your face then no one can save you. Gopal will make it His life’s goal to make you miserable because you were laughing when He was crying. Even in this world if you laugh at a cranky child he/she will throw whatever things come in the hand at the person laughing.
