Gurukrpa: Nothing happened. In the beginning Srila Prabhupada did the diksa, the yajna and the name giving. As the numbers increased, he authorized GBC, and senior sannyasis to pick names and chant on the beads, etc. In 1977 during the months of May, June, July 1977 I was in Vrindaban with Srila Prabhupada, giving him his massage in his bed between 1 AM and mangala aratik. During the day, many letters would arrive. Satsvarupa Swami was the secretary and we decided that only letters that would give joy to Srila Prabhupada would be read. Like numbers of books sold, etc. A maximum of five letters daily were read to Srila Prabhupada.

A devotee said; - Hare Krsna. Been just reading about Prabhupad's poisoning just minutes before you posted that message. Gives me an eerie feeling about my own place within the society. Being just a simple bhakta, without guidance makes me feel
adrift trying to navigate the darkness left behind after the infiltration and hijacking of the movement. I really don't know what to say other than give my best wishes during this degrading period. Can the movement be saved or is it just best to focus on satisfying Krishna and just pray that he can deliver us across this hoofprint we call an ocean of suffering?

At this time, one Pancaratrika Pandit from Bangalore named Sampat Kumar Bhattacarya came to know about Srila Prabhupada’s situation. So, he took a flight from Bangalore to Bombay – which in those days was a huge thing for a Brahmin priest – and met Prabhupada, and asked for a private meeting.
